Been loads on here recently regarding the sterile atmosphere at the Reebok, also plenty of reminiscing about the Burnden days. In the 70's or 80's or even the 90's their always seemed to be lots of shall we say "characters" You know the types i mean (loved the matchday experience at burnden,but not MEGA arsed about the footy), but a lot just seem to have vanished these days,a lot of our "new" fans can be spotted a mile off - newish car, never lived face, glam (ish) missus, with 2 kids all kitted out in the latest reebok gear etc etc.Anyway my point is, their must have been some lads who flatly refused to follow the whites in their move to Horwich, they are "lost characters" who we will never get back.Does anyone know if we lost a lot of our old Burnden supporters in the move?

I used to stand in the Manny road north and on a good day they`d be a good few hundred lads (over 30`s) stood together. Some of those faces didn`t make the move to the Reebok.

 

And to be honest i`ve never seen "Rock on Ged" or "coach numbers Graham" at the bok.

The guys who drove the light blue 3 wheel spaz chariots parked up on the side of the pitch (how did they drive them in to burnden) in the 70's.

 

Don't see them at the Reebok, probably have to set off friday tea time to get there on saturday, too far to travel.

I saw him only last week up at the Reebok - he had a banner that read - "PREPARE FOR A SHITE ATMOSPHERE"

Do you remember those of you that were at school at this time that the kids that wore national health specs had the same colour specs as the spazmobiles

yes the specs came with an elastaplast over one eye for some reason,

usually worn by the kid wearing the balaclava.

Doubt if this bloke made it to the Reebok but, in the early/mid 60's, there was a big tall fcuker in a gaberdine mac and flat cap who used to stand in the Embankment and mimic Eddie Hopkinsons every move. Rain or shine would be diving full length; taking airball goalkicks or punching the ball off invisible centre forwards heads. Mad as a march hare was this zoon but, as a kid, I was fascinated by him. Anybody else remember him? Used to stand about 6-8 steps back from the fence dead centre of the goal.

Anticipating 'owd bugger ' comments and numerous claims that this bloke was somebodies dad, grandad, uncle etc! For the record, I was in about my second year at Castle Hill Primary School! Explains a lot that dunnit!?

I did one season at Reebok, that was enough.

 

Hardest game to miss is the first one, after that you realise "where's the last 25 years of Saturdays gone?", don't play many Saturdays now, that's another reseaon for not going. Monday 8Pm, Sat noon or 5.15, Sunday 4pm Can't beat the old Sat 3PM IMHO.

dont think Max goes now but i am pretty sure i saw him at the plovdiv game, he managed oasthouse when i used to play in the bolton sunday league.
