June 18, 200620 yr There are ifs and buts about which teams England can meet from now on. Hypothetically this is a possibility: We finish top of the Group, then we meet Germany and the winners of this game play the winners of Portugal/Holland England win again to meet the winners of Spain/Brazil* in the semis The final against Argentina :D/ *If Ghana finish 2nd in their Group above the Czechs, then Ghana can dump Brazil out in the 1/4 final [-o<
June 18, 200620 yr The dilema is do you play Lampard and Gerrard and risk them getting a booking and missing the second round game?

Let's hope Italy finish second in their group too and then play (and beat) Brazil in the next round
June 18, 200620 yr The dilema is do you play Lampard and Gerrard and risk them getting a booking and missing the second round game? I reckon you should always play your strongest team (whatever that is) and worry about any suspensions if or when they happen.

I reckon you should always play your strongest team (whatever that is) and worry about any suspensions if or when they happen. Especially when they need time to gel and find their form... If either gets booked for something stupid, they deserve to miss the next game and should not get back in the side if we get any further. The real weird one will be if Ecuador win the group - because in truth England will be happy to lose and avoid Germany. Sweden could still go out so they can't afford to mess about.
June 18, 200620 yr Author The real weird one will be if Ecuador win the group - because in truth England will be happy to lose and avoid Germany. If England lose to avoid Germany we will more than likely have to play the winners of the Argentina/Holland match in the next round. We will be better off if we top the Group.
June 18, 200620 yr Quite fancy playing the Germans on home soil. Would be f??cking brilliant knocking them out. I think we would too.

That would be something, i think we would raise our game for that one and knock them out i think we would struggle more against Ecuador As for the Lampard and Gerrard thing, i'm not so sure i think i would play Lampard but have Gerrard on the bench and bring him on if things weren't going to plan, we would srtuggle without them in the next round

June 18, 200620 yr dosent matter who we play after group stages rather its germany or ecuador it,ll still be hard or england will make hard work of it, just go out to beat sweden and then concentrate on the nxt game after that and so on, its the world cup there,s no easy matches after the group stages, but if i had a choice i would rather play germany
June 18, 200620 yr another booking does not mean they will miss the last 32 it does if you get 2 bookings you miss the next match, but all bookings are scrapped from the group stage once in the last 32. so if crouch ,lampard or gerrard are booked they miss the last 32 game.if they dont get booked they start the knockout stages with no bookings.
June 18, 200620 yr I would play Gerrad and Lampard for the first half then replace them at half time for Carrick and Lennon, however Crouch i wouldnt be that bothered with but would be a risk if he wasn't even a substitue in the last 32 so i would give Wallcot a chance from the start and if we need a goal then bring on Crouch.
June 18, 200620 yr The dilema is do you play Lampard and Gerrard and risk them getting a booking and missing the second round game? A good manager would have ensured Gerrard picked up a booking in the last few mins of the Trinidad game. then again i should try to understabnd the rules before i post!
June 18, 200620 yr Last 16 not Last 32 you muppets Don't start picking them up on errors, you'll be here all f??cking day.

For my money I reckon we will end up winning the group and still end up playing Deutschland as both England Sweden and Equador Germany will end up as draws. I have no problem as Germany are a decent but not a good side, however we will be up against "Host nation" sympathy from the ref and football authorities. Believe me, Fifa will want them in the competition for at least another week!
