Villa

I see that a 3rd party has now opened talks with Doug Ellis and it is none other than ...... Sven's agent. I wonder whether the News of The World story about Sven going to the club could turn out to be true after all. I wonder whether Beckham will returning home too.

Heard an interview with someone from villa on talk sport, who claimed villa's new manager was already chosen and the supporters will been overjoyed at the OUTSTANDING CANDIDATE picked, you never know do you, :-k

Sven at Villa..... fantastic. They've deserved to be relagated for years now the miserable b@stards... Sven just about guaranties it!

Now the Yank has pulled out....

American billionaire Randy Lerner has shelved his plans to make a bid to buy Aston Villa.

Lerner had held a strong interest in purchasing the Premiership club from Doug Ellis and had met the current Villa chairman.

He had also visited the club's training ground and was believed to be putting the finishing touches to a bid for the Midlands side.

But Lerner, who owns NFL team Cleveland Browns, has now decided against pursuing his interest in Villa.

Lerner's decision means there are still two consortiums in the running to take control at Villa Park.

Michael Neville is heading up one bid to buy out Ellis, while Sven Goran Eriksson's agent Athole Still is leading another group and met Villa officials on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Villa have released a statement to the Stock Exchange to confirm the wealth of interest in buying the club.

The statement on the club's official website read: "The board of Aston Villa PLC can confirm that it has received a number of indicative offers which may or may not lead to a formal offer for the issued share capital of the company.

"The board will be appraising these offers in due course and will update shareholders and supporters when appropriate."

the american guy would of been the best option for Villa from a financial viwepoint, i can see them lurching from 1 disaster to another this season, they will do well to stay up.

Well he's hardly going to say that Villa's manager was already chosen and the supporters will be gutted at the 5hite manager they've chosen.

I thought I heard on talksport that the outstanding candidate could be none other than Jurgan Klinsman, though he is strongly linked with the vacant USA job.

A quick check of his CV would suggest otherwise

Sven just doesn't understand English football. If he did, he would never have taken Wallycott or played with one striker. He'll make a few basi errors, the never happy Villa fans will be on his back and it's all down hill from there.

Yep a joke manager whose lack of ability was sadly masked for 3 years by a 5-1 away win against Germany. Just right for Villa as you say.

Almost masked by having the most talented English team for many many years and managed fook up our chances of winning the world cup. His only answer....

"Sorry"

A bitter pill to swallow especially when you hear his ex boss Barwick spouting on about him being the best ever England manager and the main criteria for any England boss is qualification #-o

If thats the level of ambition in the heirachy of English football authorities you begin to see the calibre of decision making that led to throwing him a ??25 million new contract when he had'nt even asked for one!!! ](*,)
