Fao The Stay Aways!

After having read some of the rubbish that's been posted on here over the last 3 or 4 months i look forward to the drivel all the non attendees will come out with tomorrow following todays result!!

i.e. i didn't buy a season ticket because, i didn't go because...etc, etc..

For me that was one of our best displays since we've returned to the premiership, strong professional and above all ENTERTAINING, yes ENTERTAINING!

You don't want to watch the whites anymore that's fine, but if that's the case FOOK off and leave those that do to it and log on to basketweaving.com and stop coming on here moaning!

Bottom line is if you don't know what the town of BOLTON has now for a footabll club now you never will!!!!

You moan when fat Phil wont pay ??40k per week in wages to sign a player and yet you want to get in for FOOK all and pay next to nothing for your season tickets. It could be free and you'll come out with an excuse for not attending etc, etc.

I came away from that ground proud today, only thing that I'm not proud of is the way the town overall and the stay away supporters back the team.

Before anyone starts I'm not some JCL, been going for nearly 30 years, loved the old days and even agro that went with it, however things have changed and you've got to live with that.

Yes I was there to see us get relegated against Aldershot and when we had the lowest attendance in our history against Darlington, also did 3 out of 4 away trips in europe last year.

Bottom line is it's up to the town to decide, do WE want a premiership football club or not??

Yes I'd love lots of things from the old days back but that's never goin to happen.

What I can't get my head round is that probably 15 out of 20 premier league teams supporters would be happy with what we've got except for some BWFC fans, one question......What do you want???!!!

Great game, great result, great goals - a good start to our 6th consecutive top flight season - hopefully a 4th consecutive top 8 finish - There are about 84 league teams who wish they had achieved what we had over the last 3 seasons - This really is one of the best periods in our history - hopefully we'll soon have some silverware to show for it.

I can't envisage a time when I don't get a season ticket - once a Wanderer and all that and like Sam and many other fans it is frustrating that we get much lower crowds than comparable clubs. Yes football is too expensive but it is everywhere and Bolton remains one of the cheapest.

I'm fed up of reading excuses suggesting the reason for not going is poor football/atmosphere etc. If you don't want to go fine, but don't make up rubbish excuses. I'm also fed up of still seeing whingers saying the Reebok is not in Bolton. It has a Bolton phone number & postcode, rates are paid to Bolton Metro and it IS in Bolton Metropolitan Borough. If you met someone from another part of the country, would you say you were from Kearsley/Harwood/Little Lever/Farnworth/Westhoughton etc NO you would say you were from BOLTON. The Reebok is next to the motorway, has a purpose built train station and has buses running from every part of town.

I do sympathise with those who can no longer afford to go - the sky money should be used to keep prices down and not just to pay footballers over ??1m a year.

Nationally the press suggest attendances at some clubs are down cos of the standard of football but the real reason is simply the fact that fans can watch games at home or on the pub. They are not choosing to miss games completely but are choosing to watch at places other than the stadium. Even at the same prices if the Bolton game was not on TV (Sky or Overseas channels) we would have had a much bigger gate

I can't see the number of TV games being reduced and I think the club should look to reduce prices drastically for televised games. I don't mind as a season ticket holder if this results in a bigger crowd - although I know some would moan.

My first post and a bit of rant - the only place to watch the game is at the ground - C'mon you Whites

Good debut post kobeer, nice one :good:

if we all took your stance there would not be a club to watch in the pub, its fooking shameful.

Are you going to kill cricket? Yoof yoof yoof

Posted on another thread, but the same applies on this one.

I didnt go on Sat.

I dont have a season ticket.

I am bored with todays reebok match day experience.

I miss the old days.

none of the 20 to 30 lads I went with in the 1980's and 90's now go, i was the last to give up my ST 3 years ago.

I think the Premier league has become boring this last 3 years, with 4-5-1 line ups.

But

Bolton are and always will be my team.

I thought we played well yesterday

the pre season gloom on here was unfounded

i enjoy banter on various boards

I will watch ppv or go down the local when they are televised

I first watched em in 67 and i've done my time on and off the terraces.

i've been to Bournmouth on Tues night etc.

I had a ST for 20+ of those years

I will go if to the Reebok if feel like it if I decide on the day or before.

I will no doubt get a cup final ticket if we ever get to one or a ticket for another big game if I want

finally

This part timer may annoy the fcuk out of some of you,

If it does, quite frankly my dears, i do not give a damn!

Well said BGOE,if we get to a cup final could you get me a ticket to?

did you watch it on the big screen in the fan park??

shoulda; woulda; coulda; stayed in england beer is a lot cheeper!!

No, I had tickets for every England game, right through to the final (If we'd got there)

Loads of empty seats near me in the East Lower, and most of them are groups of lads who've now given up watching us at the Reebok. Shame we didn't sell out, but I couldn't care less - we won 2-0 & you get no points for your f*cking fanbase in this league.

COME ON YOU WHITE MEN =D>

:good: :good: :good:

What about those of us who no longer live in Bolton, are we supposed to feel like JCLs? I know a lot of the London Whites go to every home match, but some of us can't afford to do that or rather have other things that drain our bank accounts.

I'm sure Sam is ticked off with the attendance, but we're never going to be a team that gets 35,000 every week and we all know the reasons - strong local competition, not being in the top flight for so many years etc etc et al.

We have reached a bit of a peak and the novelty of supporting a team that was flavour of the month seems to have worn off for many. But as a warning to Sam, I wouldn't start having a pop at attendance figures if I ws you.

Did anyone here Sam on Five Live this morning? If so, did he say anything of interest?

I get the feeling the site is a bit exclusive sometimes like that, it's fair to moan about locals not going to matches but there are supporters outside bolton, and even if they don't contribute so much money to the club there's an odd match or jersey here and there which doesnt hurt.

I dont think anyone is moaning about supporters who live outside Lancashire, finance and time dictate whether they can get to games, to me the problem is long term supporters who are drifting away, not because they have not got the time or money, just they dont enjoy it anymore or just cannot be bothered to travel from the bolton area, the club are trying to address this problem and are actively encouraging bolton fans to meetings to discuss this.

And do you expect ANYTHING to come out of these meetings? All they'll do is make the stadium even more family f*cking friendly - perhaps provide another mascot, knock a quid off the ticket price and tell us that we're sh*t fans and don't deserve to be in the PL.

This is the same club that charged away fans a scandalous ??39 to visit the Reebok, thus killing any chance of an atmosphere in the stadium. All they care about is your money - FACT.

master bateman in shock revelatioon

did you work that out all by yourself?

and it costs about 50 quid for me to take my young un to the match

less than 3 quid a game

id rather the kids were there than folk who want to chuck seats at each other

been there, done that

its not clever

Sensible words Mr Casino I have lived through Wolves fans chucking bricks down on us from the old Railway line I was there when the Chelsea fans took the Lever end been there done it and damn well dont want to do that again. I go with my eldest son and as Casino says it costs ??50 on top of my season ticket for him to go he is totally committed to Bolton and will be a lifelong fan. He has been a mascot (for free) which was the proudest moment of his life (and probably mine). Just for the record the Bolton players were fantastic with him especially Nolan who is a genuinely great bloke. Next year maybe the year after I am hoping that my youngest will want to go and I will be proud as feck that both my boys are Bolton fans and they will remember their Dad taking them to the games. The fact that so many kids and women are at the matches these days is a credit to how football has changed for the better.

it has always been that way money makes the world go round, i would rather have this lot running the club, than the self appointed directors we had in the 60s 70s and 80s who took our money and gave us virtually no top flight football for 30years and looked down from there ivory towers every time we demonstrated after another relegation or abject performance, at least they are giving us an opprtunity to voice our opinions, i say lets give it a go.

i'm satisfied there is a will on the part of our man on the inside to imporove things for the better

i mean, that fits right in with screwing every last penny out of folk, doesn't it?

its my opinion that they've taken the existing fans (customers) for granted, while trying to attract new ones - something they've done very well, i reckon

what they've neglecyed are the owd timers

now, i'd guess they don't want a ground full of folk who want to cause grief - but i also don't think they wanted to lose folk who just wanted to make some noise

and for information, it was suggested by the club that we meet

You might think football has changed for 'the better' with more women & kids. But I'd rather get pissed, go to the match and enjoy myself - women & kids aren't my cup of tea when I'm at the game. That's more to do with the generation gap between us than owt else, though.

Maybe I'm just being a pessimist, but we'll prob just end up with a few more fatties running down the touchline with their 'I feel good flags'. And louder James Brown when we score, drowning out the home fans even more.

Time will tell, I suppose. But if they've 'done well' at attracting new customers - why are we struggling to sell seats for the opening day of the season?

Son, I was going to matches before you could walk. I don't think you're being ageist or sexist but gender and age has very little to do with the match experience changing. Ticket prices, the fall out from the events at Hillsborough, rich bankrollers, now they have contributed more to the changes.

The club can do feck all about the rules on standing!

The fact they want to meet those who stood in piss at burnden etc shows willing on their part to get the match day experience right for the vast majority of people!

those who want to fight can get pished and stagger round breightmet looking for groups of chavs to bash!

who says you can't get pissed?

my problem is with those who have a drink and naturally move on to violence

as for music and flags, most of the group wanted rid, even the club wanted rid, but mounts argued for their retention

re attracting new customers, the evidence is there for all to see...as you said, women and kids everywhere

it seems to be more the 'i was at hull' brigade who're giving up

Well look at it another way would I have taken my 8 year old to matches at Burnden in the hooligan era ... nope probably not. You can get a beer at the Reebok which is something you could never do at Burnden.

You don't build a fanbase overnight you have to attract the youngsters now so when people of my generation are even older farts and not going we still have a decent fanbase. At least with us being in the Prem we are a viable alternative for school kids which we certainly weren't when we were creeping down the lower leagues.

Instead of having the 4000 loyal fans we had in the bad old division 4 days we now have 18000 (or 15000 if you prefer) loyal fans that is how our fanbase has grown in the last 20 years. That has been made up in part by women and children but also my the improved match day safer environment in better stadiums that we have nowadays when you feel you can go the match without being assaulted by no some pissed up idiot .

As for the music, the flags and the cheerleaders for the love of god please get rid of them . Well OK with the cheerleaders either get them dressed in something more appropriate for a 12 year old or find older ones who look good in the current outfits, scantily clad pre-pubescent girls isnt a good image for any football club.

think they' go down well at middlesbrough! :D

And it's fans like you who make people want to stay in the pub.

With a little one on the way I want to be able to take her to the match in a few years without any grief. I know there are a wide spectrum of fans to cater for from the families to groups of young lads and they all want a different matchday experience.

Couple of seasons ago I was sat in front of three lads who must have watched out 20 mins of the match in total and were constantly going to the bar and staying there. Personally, I don't see the point of that, and are they they 'real' fans because for the brief time they were actually watching the match they sang the loudest?
