Top Gears Richard Hammond

boy racer = tough shit

I wasn't particularly talking about my own job as being dangerous . . . although it has it's moments. There are more people killed in the building trade and oil trade and deep sea fishing trade. But, in answer to the many posts trying to take the piss:

Bolton Fire Station doesn't have a snooker table.

I don't do painting and decorating. I married a painter and decorator's daughter so I never have to hang a bit of wallpaper.

Cookers only burn those who go near them.

I don't come on here much anymore. It's mainly because of cocks like you

A speedy recovery wished for Hammy. He's one of the least annoying presenters on TV imo, seems a nice fella.

What have Richard Hammond and Kate Moss got in common?

They both got smashed on topgear

You wouldn't believe the response this guy as had on my other forum I frequent. 90 pages of bollocks and they have raised ??30k for the air ambulance service (fair play on that point).

BUT, my point is this is a bloke that 99.9% of them will have never/will never meet.

I while back I posted a youtube video from on board Thrust SSC from one of the runs where Andy Green hit 760 mph and therebye became the first drive supersonic.

Cracking stuff pushing back technological and physiological boundaries that was the culmination of years of planning and preparation and which utilised the well-honed skills of a trained fighter pilot carefully selected for his prowess. After all, listen to the calm manner in which he describes making significant course adjustments at 600 mph - he can do that thanks to talent he was born with and to the training he received over many many years. The result was an achievement that the country can be proud of, especially as it annoyed the Yanks so much.

Pointless? Not really - like I say it pushed back the boundaries of just what is physically feasible - and a man highly trained in that area clearly thought it worth the risk.

That's a bit different to putting a journalist in a dragster.

Pointless? Well a man with no training or experience in that area clearly thought not as it would get his show some publicity. In that sense I suppose he was right.
