Bolton's House Prices

Is there anyone on here that is an estate agent or recently bought a house in Bolton? I'm looking for the average house price of a three bedroom (semi or terrace) in a decent area of town. No housing estate please. Just seen a house on Halliwell rd (stone cottage) for 130K although not too keen to move to the rd - nowt wrong with it, just a bit close to the parents!

How very dare you. Western economies rely entirely on my browsing skills.

Jesus where do we start:

Building management companies

Mechanics

and most definitely recruitment consultants (some).

nah, mechanic is a skilled job.

Seconded. I recently saw a house i liked - it was already "under offer" but the vendor said the house was staying on the market, because the offer was under the asking price. I offered 5k more than the asking price, but the estate agent came back and said the vendor was going for the original offer because there was no chain - I actually spoke to the vendor over the phone and he told me he never turned down my offer, but the estate agent put pressure on him to take the lower offer - presumably because they get their commission cheque that little bit quicker, and there was no chain.

Kunts the lot of 'em

PS Crawley, a 3 bed semi top of Halliwell or Smithills are fetching between 150 - 250K ( the higher price being a decent part of Smithills)

Try living in the South East, its beyond a joke! You can't even get a two bed terrace for under 175K. To even look at houses that are 3 bed and on the market for 130K is relief.

The important point is that Crawley is considering moving back to Bolton. Are you lot listening? Obviously scored a job offer at the Octagon then?

Throw another sprout on the barbie Smiffs.

nah, mechanic is a skilled job.

Aye, but I'm sure some Estate Agents are skilled too, but both industries have so many cowboys it gives the rest of 'em a bad rep.

I take it er indoors is warming to Bolton then?

May I ask why?

No job offers at the Octogon. The reason we are considering it is that my wife is due to to work after having taking maternity leave and she doesn't want to leave Crawley Jr and commute to London anymore. We need two incomes for our house in Crawley but as house prices are cheaper up north, we could do it on my full time income and a part time wage, so that Mrs.Crawley could then spend more time looking after the little one and not leave her in nursery for over 30 hrs a week at a cost of ?800 per month.

So its not Bolton so much as we're being priced out the South East if we want to have the lifestyle we want to, and for my wife that does not include committing herself to a career that takes up almost all of her time anymore. Funny how kids change you!

The cold weather is still an issue though and she hasn't seen Deane yet so things could change!

Crawley you'll love it up here, as will your missus.

Just keep your trap shut or all the ethnics will think you're a fascist.

I reckon she will, southerners love a bit of northern friendliness!
