El Hadji Diouf joined Bolton`s squad as it departed for the Peace Cup in Korea. This was a source of some relief to the club as he had missed last weeks training camp in Austria without permission. This will be the first real test of new manager Sammy Lee`s authority.
Diouf had a particularly close relationship with previous manager Sam Allardyce and comments he made at the end of last season seemed to indicate at least a possibility that he was seeking a move. Benfica were reported to be interested but this turned out to be groundless. However, Athletico Madrid have been linked with the striker before and after pocketing a fat transfer fee for Fernando Torres, it`s possible that they will now have the funds to secure Diouf`s signature.
