I am not saying he will not leave, but I have'nt seen this story in any other paper and they are using the same quotes that came out about a month ago. It just seems like more speculation to me. Although it was worrying not to see him involved at Tranmere yesterday.

I doubt he would leave before a replacement (although it would be an inferior one) had been sounded out. If Anelka does leave, I see us replacing him with somebody like Henri Camara from Wiggin

It all depends on the man himself, if he decides he wants a Champs League team, then he'll go. All we can do is get as much money for him as possible, if as is being talked about, that is ?13M, then the club would have to spend that full amount on 2-3 players in order to keep the fans "on side" I would suggest.

 

I certainly hope he does stay, but if he is going, then get him shipped out as quickly as possible and give us time to get other players in.

helgusson has not been signed as a direct replacement for anelka, sammy lee is not that stupid, helgusson will be a decent option up front if davies is rested or injured, the replacement for anelka will have to have pace to give us another option.

I admit, I am no Einstein when it comes to football tactics, formations etc. I just love watching the game and when Bolton play, want us to win and be entertained.

 

However, it seems to me that we're building a team around Anelka to give him the proper support and service he deserves. I have no doubt, if we play wingers and with Anelka and Davies up front supporting him, the goals will be rattling in.

I think you are correct the mirror do have it in for us as a club, unfortunately I still think Anelka is looking for an escape route and if that is the case we need to get the money in and spend it wisely.

What makes you think he's going Mounts? There is clearly no bid for Anelka, given that only the Mirror is reporting any interest, and the club repeatedly announce that there isd no bid. In addition, Anelka has said he is happy here and only wants to play in England.

 

We should start a campaign against the Mirror. Lets bombard their editor with moaning emails each day. Is there a media watchdog?

I personally think that the amount of speculation suggests his agents are at work, and the fact Lee said he can go if a Champions league team come in etc point to Anelka having said he wants to leave if he can secure himself a bigger club

Going off Anelkas past record of hanging around clubs I wouldn't be suprised if he does go. One thing about Gartside is that he's quick to go to the press, or he gets on the blower to chairman asking for explanations when stuff appears in the papers. If we see nothing in the rags from Gartside tomorrow then it's adi?s Nic.
