  1. So they are Corluka, Hutton, Chimonda, Gunter and ????, or are you including Chimbonda twice? If so I would estimate the total outlay to be ?30m rather than ?20m......
  2. How do you get a racist to laugh on a Sunday? Tell them a joke on Friday. What's the difference between a racist and a bucket of sludge? The bucket. Why is a racist like a drunk? Because whatever they say ends in a slur. Why is a racist like a dog? Because they both mark out territory by spraying walls. What's red and white and peels itself? A white supremist trying to get a suntan. What's the definition of confused? A white supremist watching the mens 100m sprint. What do you get when you cross a white supremist with a donkey? Someone who thinks the sun shines out of their own ass. What do you call a bigot who does well on an IQ test? A cheat. Why is a bigot like the announcer at Randwick? Because they both start shouting the instant they see a new race. What's the difference between a schoolyard racist and Adolf Hitler? Opportunity. What are the best four years of a racist's life? Year 6. Why do racists hang around in gangs? So they can form a dope ring. Why didn't the racist cross the road? She was afraid of the other side. How many racists does it take to change a light bulb? None - racists hate being enlightened.

    Why?
  5. Interesting analysis Sluffy. I don't think he will do a good job. The main reason is his style of management with lots of backroom staff takes time to implement and time is one thing he hasn't got at Blackburn. I also don't rate the Blackburn squad. Santa Cruz is apparently is on his way. Samba and Nelsen are a decent Centre Half pairing. Warnock and Emerton can be decent attacking full backs but not this season (mainly due to Ince playing them out of position), but I don't rate Robinson, Pedersen, McCarthy, Roberts, Derbyshire. Tugay is an excellent player but is reaching the end of his career, whilst Dunn can be a good player on his day, which seems to occur infrequently. Also, the word from over the moors is apparently that the players are not as fit this season due to Ince's methods versus Hughes's. I agree their next 7 games will make or break their chances of avoiding the drop, after that they have to play the top 4 away before the end of the season. One signing that I can see BSA making - Ali Al Habsi.
  6. Though you wouldn't expect his ambition to be fulfilled playing here as third choice centre back, so you might conclude: 1.) He will be motivated to get into the team and play well. 2.) As soon as a moneybags club comes knocking, he will be off, so don't expect a future legend who stays here for years. Given he is 23 and improving and playing international football, ?3m isn't a bad price, if he is any good we should make a profit.
  7. Agree on all counts. I would only add that Gartside deserves credit for the Allardyce era also, as he does for Megson's minor (in comparison) achievements thus far. Many managers fail due to insecure boards / owners, rather than their lack of ability.
  8. The BNP rely on those with an IQ smaller than their dick size (in inches) being compelled by their ultra neo conservative bollocks and becoming members or activists for their miserable party - IMO of course. In the late 60s it was understandable that some of the BNP views were valid, but in 2008 you need to be utterly brainless to think that their policies could even start to make any sense, or to see them as anything else but bitter failed former NF activists almost in disguise. Going back to Maggie Thatcher, IMO she was a leader with courage, she did not have the luxuries that subsequent leaders have had, and she had to choose a direction and live or die by it. Socialists will always point to the damage she did to this country, and whilst I understand their perspective, the economic legacy she left is something we all benefit from today and far outweighs any socialist negativity. Again IMHO. PS - I have had a few enjoyable beers tonight with some good chaps, where we discussed all aspects of life and the world in general, so please factor that in before you find any of the above controversial.
  9. Good post Mounts. We really don't want to have to get rid of Megson if we can avoid it - but some of his team selections and tactics have been so bad that you think getting rid of him is the only way forward. You would think he has had enough stick from supporters of various clubs (mostly for being too negative) that he would have twigged by now that there is perhaps an alternative formula to successfully managing teams.
  10. A crucial win yesterday, however we are favourites to lose the next 5 games. Lets see how Megson's position looks after then. I agree largely with George's comments earlier in this thread, except I would say Megson did try to buy a goalscorer in Elmander, and there weren't too many obvious better options around at the time. Elmander may still come good. Megson, if he remains, should indeed take a leaf out of the Allardyce / Brown / Bruce book when it comes to transfers. As well as Geovanni, Cosuin, King, Zayatte at Hull, Valencia and Palacios at Wigan are examples of cheap buys of the kind we use to get. I did read recently that Zaki would cost ?7.25m if signed permanently for Wigan, so I am not sure that is a great deal, particularly as his loan is non binding and he can go off to another club at the end of the season.
  11. Stelios is no longer good enough for the Prem - I hope Hull play him.
  12. Education and Capitalism are the answers. Once people understand the basics of what is going on the world, and start to get into the realms of earning wealth for themselves then religion becomes absurd and some of the atrocities referred to above will be seen for what they are. More and more Muslims will become educated and westernised as time goes by, and this will eventually emancipate women in these cultures and reduce extremism. Obama and his circle of confidantes were all ivy league educated - the answers always start with education. It'll be reet!
  13. Not sure myself - he has poor technique that makes his passing and shooting woeful for Premier League standard. He could go either way.
  14. My view is that it is very hard to be 100% non-racist. None of us are perfect, we all have our own mental and emotional insecurities, and we are all fed lots of information from a very young age from an at times irresponsible media, from teachers, parents (many of whom had been influenced by people who had witnessed shocking brutality at the hands of "foreigners") and peers who may have their own views that are biased against one group or another. In my lifetime, and I suspect the lifetime of many on here, there have been many messages from numerous sources that encourage us to discriminate against practically everydody. Some of the strongest messages have been against Black people and Asian people, but also Chinese people, gay people, fat people, women, old people, French, Italians, Jews, Muslims, Germans, Scots, Irish.....I could go on. Thus when we get to the age when we set off on our own path we have been fed so much potential to discriminate that no matter how well balanced and intelligent an individual is, some unfair thoughts towards certain groups are bound to exist, and some people will always overcome them better than others. Surely all one can do is to show respect to other people in general? Watching Mr Obama on Tuesday, and to understand the constant bombardment of discussions about race since, it is important to understand quite how racist the US has been over the last 300 years, and the pyschological effect that has had on African Americans and how that effects them to this day, and how other countries of the world have to some degree or other copied the model. Once you appreciate that then electing a black guy (or mixed race to be precise) to the most powerful political position in the world with an African American wife and family, so unexpectedly quickly, is an amazing development, and a great and liberating one for African Americans in particular. So in short YES
  15. Goes without saying really.
