Yesterdays Crowd

pitiful, less than 19000 bolton fans on to watch world class players, 3 0r 4 bigger crowds in the championship and 1 crowd 20% bigger than ours in the old 3rd division.

Was shocking mounts. Someone asked me yesterday why attendances are so poor and I couldn't put my finger on it. The club have brought prices down, did a family offer for the day, we are trying to play football rather than long ball and have players like Anelka and Diouf in the team.

All I can think is more attractive games being shown on dodgy in other places that sell a better pint quicker than the Reebok

It was pityful, if fans expect us to keep hold of our stars then they need to get up to the bok and show them their SUPPORT.

Yes, you're right! It's in a sh1t place but our first few seasons in the top league we were getting decent attendances

The Reebok hasn't moved since then

Fcuk em! The atmosphere was very good once we got the 1st goal. Their the ones that missed out.

I didn't go as I had other plans. You may say there's a special offer on, not for me; the full price paying adult there isn't.

I can't for the life of me see why you think the good people of Bolton should turn up and pay what ?30? to see a Reading team that is composed of Championship players and ours which until yesterday hadn't got a single point on the board. Once someone decides not to buy a ST, you are really going to struggle to get them back for games like this, and the club have done very little to address this.

I went yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. the first half I got wound up to f?ck though, I was in the north stand and the atmosphere was pathetic, we tried to get it going but people just looked at us as if we are freaks. luckily at half time, I bumped into zozzy and the walkden mob so went and sat with them and had a great time, we made constant noise and I like to think that we had an impact on the players, even some of the other fans eventually joined in

Must say the crowd was pitiful

Anyway good to see you mounts after so long

the good people of nottingham, southampton, woverhampton, leicester, and many other towns and citys up and down the country care to turn up for substandard lower league games in bigger numbers than we do, the apathy for our club really does shock me, it is not a god given right for the bolton public to enjoy premier league football, I find it hard to believe that fans who watched bolton through the 80s 90s and who are football fans now choose not to support the club.

like wise Jay, it helps when the football on offer is good, spread the word Bolton are back. :yahoo:

Good atmosphere, fans that wanted to get behind the players rather than boo the fcuk out of em at every touch.

Stay away fans = not arsed!

Nail on head, Mounts. Bolton people/fans seem to think their excuses are special and don't apply elsewhere around the country.

I'm not disagreeing with you in any way but this is business. If you have a product and it's not selling, is it really fair to blame the customer? You are in the business world, you should know how it works.

Our company is always shaking things up to try and find better ways to sell our products which, although world class, fail to sell in the appropriate numbers. Our last director lasted under a year, BWFC has the same old people with the same old stale ideas.

If you say BWFC are selling a product and that product is football, you would expect a better quality of football and team to sell more bums on seats than inferior product or in this case football teams, yet the public of similar size towns regularly get far bigger crowds than us, the bolton footballing public shoulder the blame in my opinion, a lot of football fans are fickle and easily put off but bolton fans must be down there with the worst in the country.

p.s. they will all be crawling out of the woodwork for uefa away trips though, and any finals me might get to.

There was a special offer on for the fullprice paying adult for yesterdays game, it was ?19 in the south and

west lower---- you don't have to take a kid in with you!!!!!!!

better atmosphere, true fans, and a win, the reason why t'other 4000 dint show was because they didnt have faith in us and so its their loss ther'll be more their nxt saturday, but its better atmosphere with the true fans, i even heard the burnden aces chant break out a few times, which is always good to hear.

Come on, you know better than that! It's all about marketing, quality doesn't equal sales in any walk of life. However, you can sell any old shite with the correct promotion.

It's a good point, I certainly wasn't aware of this, ?19 is a bargain in this day and age. I suspect BWFC didn't do enough to promote this.

Where were the adverts in the BEN and on the radio saying it was ?19.00.

Mounts you really do need to change the subject, your getting very predictable and tedious, everybody thought the fat one was an utter cock for spouting the same spiel as you do.

With the greatest respect, Barry, that's utter horse shit!

Mounts is an evangelist in respect of this club and I feel the same. I'd love to see more people there and if we nag enough people enough times, they might think about coming back (or even new folk to start coming.)

As an aside, what about the flock of empty seat at the Tyne Tees derby today? I though one part of that duo had 'the greatest fans in the world' ? Going out on a limb here but is the exorbitant cost of EPL football causing the true believer (i.e. the working man) to reconsider how he disposes of his disposable?

On another thread, someone said the Elk is worth 60K a week. In todays crazy fooking world he is right. One weeks wages for one bloke equalling 2-3,000 of the attendance money? Madness.

thanks for the support no balls, i feel very humble, hope you did not take my remark to heart yesterday it was not meant as a personal slur, just a play on words.

I know it is a little tedious, but i am gobsmacked and amazed by our support, we used to be so passionate in years gone by when we were shiiiite, one of the main reasons I was drawn to BWFC was the complete and utter devotion our fans used to show for the club despite our mediocrity, I suppose my expectations are too high of our supporters.

I agree with that but in years gone by we had a different type of supporter and even a different type of player. In the not so distant past you had players that still saw themselves as working class and thats how they came across. You felt you could relate to them and them to you. Its a different game now. If you had told Super John he would be flying to an away game he'd have laughed. Now its not only expected they expect 1st class aswell.

About the same time this change started to occur the game started to attract a different type of fan, fans who wanted to visit the fancy new stadiums and spend their hard earned, they knew nothing about what going to the game meant and clapped politely in all the right places. The football world thought these fans were the future, more money and less risk so they bumped up the prices, it didn't matter that the notrights couldn't afford it because the seats had been sold to this wonderful new breed.

Unfortunately without the notrights the new stadiums lost all the atmosphere and the new fans have now got bored and fooked off. The notrights have lost touch with the mates they went to the match with so neither set are turning up and you are going to struggle selling these empty seats.

Thats my take on it anyway

Depends where you start from. It was 60 miles for me as I went to the game whilst on a weekend away in the Lakes. Passed the Lancaster whites coach on the way back and I know plenty of people who travel 30 miles plus for every game. Cannot understand people who live within the borough of Bolton moaning about the location of the Reebok - it's a quid bus ride from the nearest bus stop to most pubs in the borough.

In the last 10 years I've had a pint in 7 different places near the Reebok. Sorry but to say there are no pubs is simply rubbish. If you don't want to go - fine - but please do not give meaningless excuses. As other posts have pointed out most clubs have similar issues about prices, the board, seats, press speculation (muck raking lies) etc etc but still get much better support. Great entertainment yesterday - anyone who is a fan but didn't go yesterday missed out - it's all about what the team do on the pitch.

Hopefully the crowds will return when they realise we are are playing good football - if not hopefully they will shut up moaning with petty excuses and allow the rest of us to continue enjoy supporting our team.

Cmon you whites.

Disagree about the choice of pubs. There are only four pubs within reasonable walking distance from the Reebok. All of which are too over-crowded on matchday to get served. Clubs should be based in a town centre.
