Simply an alternative point of view, mate. The basis of all discussion.

Personally I thought Thompson last season offered more creativity than Nolan did. If the club was being managed well and we didn't have a captain who is, frankly, taking the p1ss I'd be a lot more positive.

I'll concede on the Andranik question: it is puzzling to say the least.

If we played Diouf. Anelka, Wilhelmsson and Ando, I think we'd cause a lot more problems going forward. Plus Ando can tackle

 

Obviously bring Davies on if we decide to tone down the attacking. But I feel out of all our Midfielders Ando is the most threatening going forward

The gentlemen of the press come in for plenty of stick on here for the shit they spout.

Why is everyone arguing with each other about Nolan, Lee is the one who won't drop him.

 

Kevin needs a spell on the bench, his manager is simply adding to the flack he's been getting recently.

It is a shame that Nolan has lost form but he needs to concentrate on his football instead of pretending to organise everybody.

In my opinion (fan since 1960) he is channelling his efforts into meaningless action ie he closes a player down but does not tackle properly, he doesn't jump but merely obstructs and he is out of breath after 5 minutes showing a grave lack of fitness.

Is is LSL's responsibility to deal with the situation.

Kev didn't do himself any favours by admitting he did not always give 100% under BSA & I'm sorry but on allegedly 30 grande a week that is deplorable.

 

However no point booing just constructive criticism to let players know when performances are consistently below par.

Not true. Spoke to Kevin last night. He's gutted to be playing out of position and says he's not fitting in wide right. He just wants to play back in centre midfield in the role that Allardyce had him playing in.

He'd step down if it was for the better of the team - but until then, he's doing his best to recapture his form.

He says he's not the only one out of form, yet the fans seem to have chosen him for the special treatment and its not doing his confidence any good at all - in fact its putting even more pressure on him.

He said that he was gutted last week top be booed off by the home fans - worse still when Diouf was cheered off after having a similarly inept game.

He has a point.

 

He had a lot more to say about other matters and did - but I've decided not to post it.

 

He's right about the crowd having favourites, but I'm not buying the out of position excuse for 2 reasons - firstly he's not good enough in central roles, secondly he was quoted somewhere last season (perhaps on his BBC column?) as saying that he's happy to play anywhere - it was during the period where he was more or less up front.

Sometimes you must amputate the foot to save the leg. There's nothing wrong with criticising players/managers if it's constructive and for the greater good. Attempting to defend the indefensible - ie. Nolan's current form - is not being positive. I'm with Henrik on that one.
