but to be fair, two other words,

Exactly my thought when I saw that lunge. What tackling do they teach them at that 'centre of excellence' by the Mersey ?

working on the old adage of getting yours in first

He's like a breath of fresh air, we need creativity in the middle and that's what he has plenty of, the trouble is the Liverpool fans i know have been singing his praises for a while, and they call him the new Steven Gerrard so i would be very suprised if Liverpool let him go, but you never know, if we stay up and he has a good run in the team and enjoys it he might want to stay. Fingers crossed. :yahoo:

The lad will get better and better.

He covered every blade of grass today. The lad can move with the football and see a pass which can't be said of many of our midfielders.

In some strange way he reminded me of young McAteer.

I know he is a decent young English player, but for me I think Liverpool would let him go for a bit of money. He is at the age where he wants first team football, and with Gerrard Alonso Sissoko Mascherano and that young Lucas all infront of him, it is unlikley he will get it for a number of seasons.

Someone mentioned Arsenal and City, but why would Arsenal want him, they are very strong in the centre of midfield, and they are constantly bringing in there own young players, and if City want a new player then they will go out and spend a large amount probably on a big foriegn name.

I would be constantly be persuading Guthrie all the time that he is here what a good place to move to we would be, and then try and agree a reasonable price with liverpool (up to 5/6m imo)

And can cross, what a ball in for Davies header.
should that not be the other way round?

Indeed it should but thats what drink does!

My thoughts entirely........lets hope he dosnt sod off back to liverpool and play his career out in their reserves / do f$%k all . he is our young class act.

In that they both have arms, legs and a head, yes. The comparison ends there.

I meant middle as in midfield

I was with you all the way up to the last part..................?5-6m for a young lad who's barely played? Do you come from the Roy Keane school of football transfer fee's?!

At first I thought that I would pay 3 maybe at max 4. But when you think about it and think about some of the fees at the moment, I have seen enough of him already this season to suggest that he is already a very good player and will get bette and better, add onto that that he is English and the price rises for some reason, in a few years I can see him having a price tag of around ?10m, taking all that into account I would be willing to pay 5m, and at a push 6.

I would open the bidding at 4.5 and work up to 6, I think somewhere in there we could get him

how much!!!????

worlds gone fookin mad!

Homer hes a good player and young so I would say hes worth 2 to 3 mill, but hes also English therfore add another 2 to 3 mill , shit I will agree but it seems to be a fact of life.

Since when would Bolton pay anything like that much money for someone "unproven"?

it will show we've no ambition when we don't pay 6 million for him...........

Thinking more towards the younger legs in an ageing midfield, actually.

we only paid ?3.5m for Diouf?! I rekon around ?2 would be a good deal!

But Liverpool wanted rid of Diouf and nobody else wanted him except us

I don't think they'll want Guthrie either?! Do u really think he's above Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Babel, Benayoun, Pennant, Leto (Or whatever he's called) And no doubt they'll be gettin more in in the transfer windows! I rekon they'd let him go for around ?2-?2.5mil

No I dont think he will get in the team above those players but in the Diouf situations we could use his spitting, poor attitude etc in order to negiotiate a lower price. We wont be able to do this with Guthrie

Guthrie is doing well tonight.

Guthrie is doing well tonight.

apart from not tracking his man for their 1st goal
