Is Blair Catholic

Featured Replies

This is wrong.

We'll take your word for it. WTF?

Just humour him, he'll be fine!

Erm, does it matter if he is?

I doubt he'd have come out if he'd still been PM.

Imagine Liz, 4 disfunctional kids, one of which is probably gay, she's sorted out the future King and Head of the Church of England having an Islamic sandwog for a step dad, and then her PM turns redneck.

I doubt he'd have come out if he'd still been PM.

In itself, no matter at all, I'm a liberal, folks can do what they want, as long as my liberty and other rights are not compromised.

This, IMO, is different.

If Blair had changed church whilst PM he would been slated, possibly losing votes, so in typically cynical, sly fashion, he waits until he has left.

As PM , he had one principle; stay in power.

Ii's not right.

Reading the Sunday papers & I have worked why.

Apprently catholics are now in the majority, so Blair follows the herd.

Why does (professedly) support Newcastle, then, surely he should be a M****h, esp after going to Rome to see the pope!

imo he always was, gets into no 10 lets all the ira scum free then when he quits shows his true colours

In fairness, I do not think he let his beliefs cloud his judgement in 'moral' questions e.g. stem cell research & abortion.

I agreed with you until now, it's a disgrace that he waited until now to convert when he's clearly been Catholic all along.

However, what do you mean that Catholics are now in the majority? Do you mean in this country? You are clearly wrong there, perhaps you could provide a source. Or do you mean globally? I think that the name Church of England gives a lot away, don't you?

Yep! There's not too many CofE churches in the rest of the world.

It was on the BBC radio news this morning and in the Telegraph.

Apparently after the influx of Eastern Europeans, practicing Catholics outnumber practicing Protestants

He's right refering to 'practising' ones faith in this country.

Which lot is it who do all the kiddie fiddlin?

Is it the vicars or the priests?

Fair point, but if you'd meant "practising" you should have said so initially.

Now your main question, and this is the tricky one, can you justify your use of the word "fenian"?

I reckon so, as he has significantly supported the cause of the Catholic minority in N Ireland. In addition, we do have a peace. At a cost of releasing criminals, who had themselves at war with their "British" oppresors.

Would Blair have done any/all of this without his Catholic wife, of Irish descent?

Now......the ends probably justify the means. From where we have been over the last 40 years, maybe the "3rd way", strange peace & democracy is as good as it gets.

I just wish he could have been honest about his faith.

One of the best things about politics in Britain is the increasing seperation of it and religion, our American cousins could do worse than follow our example.

Right, I will admit to having not read any further down than this on the thread yet, but...............your statement there is absolute cack - if your talking about the UK. If you're talking about the rest of the world, then yes, obviously there are alot of them

Sorry love. He may not have written it correctly, but he's right.

all of my family is from Belfast, and they are split down the middle of protestant and catholic, so I would like to think I half know what I am talking about. For you to say that Blair is/was supporting the catholic cause is just utter rubbish.

If he was Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Jewish or Seikh, it would have made no difference to how he did his job, if you are one of those folk who believe there is some sort of conspiracy theory, then you need to grow up, and get out a bit more
