we hear a sad story from just down the road from here in Quorn:

 

"LONDON, England (AP) -- British house hunters examining a prospective property found an unwelcome surprise in the main bedroom -- the owner's body hanging from a belt in the walk-in cupboard.

 

A real estate accompanying the prospective buyers quickly ushered them out of the house after they came across the body Sunday in a house in the village of Quorn, about 110 miles (175 kilometers) north of London, real estate agency Hartleys said.

 

The agent then called police and contacted the man's family. The house, which was for sale for about ?350,000 (US$690,000) was quickly taken off the market.

 

Police confirmed that a man's body was discovered in the house, but said that, as the death was not being treated as suspicious, questions about the case should be referred to the local coroner's office.

Until three years ago, I worked for a US company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (since '93). No matter how many times we told em, they would often send an envelope for my Brisbane counterpart, Rocky (an Australian who has had lunch with Sir Nat, been to a number of games at Burnden and the Reebok and classes himself as a BWFC fan. Can't understand where the influence came from ). Little note on the envelope 'Please hand to Rocky when you see him'. I used to go back to them and say " OK I'll see him in Las Vegas at next Januarys Sales Conference" and they'd be fooking dumbstruck. Brisbane is about 4,000 kms and around a 6 hour flight from Perth.

 

The only way we could finally solve the problem, Satan, was to superimpose a scale map of Australia over a scale map of the USA. Once they could see a little bit of California and a little of Maine sticking out at either end, the penny dropped. Know nowt about owt outside the US many of em.

 

I saw a survey down here recently about the Iraq situation. Nearly 35% of Americans questioned believed it was in Europe!!!

My boss is top woman & bloody good at her job but is, unfortunately, an American. She is quite at ease at taking the piss out of herself though. One of her many confessions as to stupid things she did/said when she first came over here was: she went to Chester one day to see a bit of culture and stuff & saw a sign for North Wales. She said to her husband, isn't it a shame we didn't think to bring our passports with us or we could've gone to Wales too.

Once went to the Alamo, and I must admit that instead of doing an Ozzy and pissing on it (easily mistaken for a piss stone I must admit), I was repremanded for 'leaning on the building' as like "sir, please don't lean on the building, it's almost 200 years old"

 

She wasnt impressed when I informed her of the fact that my house was older than that in lil' ole England.....
