I would also do the pass plus test, knocks quite a bit off your insurance ... as for cars something with a small engine not very exciting I will admit but will keep the cost of insurance down

Literally?

Thanks BD, you saved my rant on that 'literally' comment!

I have a ford ka as my first car. It's cheap on insurance and tax, and its a nippy little thing. But I am a girl who drives like an OAP ('literally'), so maybe not your style?

Eh? If I understand your gibberish, you might get a Ford Capri? Best to get a modern car, I reckon. Something safe.

How's your head?

better thanks. I decided to stop going on about it when I realised I wouldn't get any sympathy!

Named driver on your parents insurance might work.

Or hitch hike.

adding your parent to your insurance should knock a few quid off if you want to get your no claims discount.

the missus is 24 and has just got her first car P reg 106 cost her ?450 to but and it's costing ?1500 to insure fully comp, you could add another 500-1000 on top if she took me off th'insurance!

Get a personal loan. The rates are about to drop aren't they?

why would you pay ?1500 to get a ?450 car insured fullycomp ?

she wanted fully comp don't ask me why, plus she want's the no claims discout so it had to go in her name.

At present with us full comp can be cheaper than TPFT. Having said that i quoted a lad for a 998cc corsa nigh on 12 grand cause he was from birkenhead and iv seen some bint at the side of me quote a teenager 19 grand!

I hate my job still but it was pretty funny tryna explain to the scousers mam that they live in the ghetto thats why its expensive!

EDIT: Iv just realised how good that sounds living between the delights of longsight and sunny rusholme!

stay away from hatchbacks

get a ford escort or summert

But surely the f?cking rip-off attitude displayed by British Insurers is part of the reason loads of young people drive with no insurance.

Nail

Head!

How about a rebate thing. You pay through the nose but get a chunk back if you drive like a red ginger.

Get ur parents insured on it then you as a named driver, thats what i did 4 2 years at about ?600 a year on a corsa, now mines not so bad coz ive bin drivin 4 a little while

If you get a car loan, you can just get 3rd party insurance. Take an insurance policy on the loan and they will cover the vehicle if it's written off.
