April 11, 200818 yr it was bad enough throwing a game and missing Rangers, but it would of been f?cking awesome going to Italy for a game
April 11, 200818 yr I honestly don't believe we would have got past Rangers. Just the sort of team we never beat.
April 11, 200818 yr I honestly don't believe we would have got past Rangers. Just the sort of team we never beat. I'm not entirely convinced we'd have even got a result over lisbon with the team we SHOULD have sent there. Remember, they rolled over to ten-man wigan in the same week.

I think a contributing factor to that result was them not going to Lisbon. I guess we'll never know. I for one think we could've taken Rangers

April 11, 200818 yr In spite of the manager that dropped them for the biggest game of their lives I understand that. Noone can say for sure if that was a contributing factor, but even if it was, these are "professional" footballers. They should perform to their best ability in every competitive game, not give less because they're sulking about something.

I know they are paid a LOT of money but they are only human. I know I would be incredibly pissed off for the Wigan game. I think it was then a lot of respect was lost for the manager
April 11, 200818 yr There's some on here have talked us thru' to the semi's, in reality though - we were lucky to make it through the group stage

And ensuring they do, by motivating them etc is the Manager's job.

April 11, 200818 yr You're probably right. No probably about it... What a complete kick in the bollocks for most of our first team squad to not only to be left out but to be given the joy of watching it at home on 5...comforted by the fact that you have a game on a cow field three days later... No call me cynical and I know it's been done to death but... I was in Lisbon...we could of beaten them...lastnight they were very poor...they were there for the taking... a result in Lisbon...into the 1/4 rs...moral boost...onto Wigan... Instead...complete respect for that f*cktard lost.... still we were bottom when he took over... well the rest is history....

April 11, 200818 yr and that for me will be his legacy...and why he cannot stay in charge... and most of us will never forgive that decision... he has lost the confidence of the players...that was already fragile from day one of this season.. I would suspect that, that decision was his and his alone...it was a massive gamble...and it failed...
April 11, 200818 yr On the European note (don't know if it has been posted elsewhere) but... Getafe 3-3 Munich * Contra 44 Casquero 91 Braulio 93 De la Red s/o 7 * Ribery 89 Toni 115,120 ------------- * Agg : 4 - 4 * After Extra Time, Bayern Munich win on Away Goals Rule What a game!!!!!!!!!
April 11, 200818 yr I was in Lisbon...we could of beaten them...lastnight they were very poor...they were there for the taking... They were crap in the second leg against us, crap at Ibrox and crap again last night. Rangers were nothing special and yet they still won fairly comfortably.

I would suspect that, that decision was his and his alone...it was a massive gamble...and it failed... I could see why Megson did it at the time. I'd have considered doing the same thing. Which is why I'm not paid to be a football Manager. And why Megson shouldn't be either. It was a huge decision and he got it wrong - not just for UEFA, but it is obvious that it's had a massive knock-on effect

Saw the highlights last night. Getafe had the game won not once but twice. One-nil up with only a minute to go and then 3-1 up in extra time. They absolutely battered Bayern over in Munich and again last night, despite being down to ten men for virtually the whole game.

They absolutely battered Bayern over in Munich and again last night, despite being down to ten men for virtually the whole game. I haven't seen any of it, sounds like a cracker though. Typical the Germans scraped through though. I feel for Getafe - that sort of thing usually happens to us and its a shit feeling
April 11, 200818 yr at least its saved us a shit load of money and possible beating from italian police...
April 11, 200818 yr at least its saved us a shit load of money and possible beating from italian police... That's like saying you're glad you didn't get the chance to shag Angelina Jolie, just in case she has a smelly pussy and a mild case of crabs.
April 11, 200818 yr at least its saved us a shit load of money and possible beating from italian police... indeed, it would have been a shed load of money; and yes, we'd have got battered by the coppers. But I'd have been out there like a shot. I honestly think the likelihood is we'd have won out there with a full team, and would have had a fair chance of beating Rangers. How fooking good would we be feeling now...
April 11, 200818 yr So with Bayern Munich, Rangers, Fiorentina and Zenit through now; and IF we'd have beaten Lisbon etc and had the same route as Rangers, realistically we would have been in with a fair chance of winning that b?stard competition.
April 11, 200818 yr I could see why Megson did it at the time. I'd have considered doing the same thing. Which is why I'm not paid to be a football Manager. And why Megson shouldn't be either. It was a huge decision and he got it wrong - not just for UEFA, but it is obvious that it's had a massive knock-on effect aye fact is, he made the decision but didn't have the ability to carry it out with the desired results, and that boils down to the fact he can't manage his squad, the result was not just the wigan one but everything that followed this includes the campo fiasco which goes from strop to captain to bench and strop to recall tomorrow if you do what he did you have to have the respect of the players enough for them to do as they are told, but he clearly doesn't, this also makes the players c?nts too mind to some degree but we were bottom when he took over look at the camera and not the floor when you're being interviewed you bald fool
April 11, 200818 yr I'm not entirely convinced we'd have even got a result over lisbon with the team we SHOULD have sent there. Remember, they rolled over to ten-man wigan in the same week. They rolled over to 10 man Wigan because the majority of the players were not match fit having sat out for 10 days - also the confidence was lost and the players annoyed at not having the chance to get through to the quarter final.
