Bolton Wanderers No Ambition?

Well it is clear the club are giving it a right go in the transfer market, anyone care to comment that the club have no ambition? it rings hollow when we have supposedly sold only 7000 season tickets, Derby county sold 19,000 before last season ended, despite the apathy shown by the Bolton public, we are still linked with a host of new players and the club has publicly stated that the spending will continue.

Mmm and Man City fans are more loyal and Everton fans are all thugs and Blackburn fans are all pink with yellow spots...

My opinion is football fans across the country are not that much different really? Some folks will always go, some only when exciting times are ahead, some when the club is at the top of their league and winning every week.

Isn't it just that other clubs with consistently large crowds have a much bigger fan-base so those ones who are apathetic or staying away or criticising are replaced by new excited punters?

Low season ticket sales so far this year cannot be attributed to "Bolton have shit support" ... what is it something in the water in Bolton that makes us a completely different species to the rest of the country? :)

There are a certain number of fans that support our club.

1. Some are not happy that we lost a lot of games last season.

2. Some are not happy that we didn't try in some important games [ to them ] last season.

3. Some are not happy that the entertainment on view was not worth the treck/money.

4. Some are unhappy we sold our best player and did not replace him.

5. Some still think season tickets are a little expensive and believe that they will get to see the Whites cheaper with the ?5 scheme on a game by game basis

All those will come back given time, results, good football and some quality signings. The latter is well in hand the others will need games.

I agree, we have shite support, I don't think that can be doubted. I shall be attending each match BUT am not buying a season ticket. Maybe there's others like me and the lack of season ticket sales doesn't mean low attendances and shite support this coming season.

Here's hoping!

If all our supporters came in categories 1 - 5 then we would be an even bigger set of w@nkers than even I think we are.

You think wrongly then. Cos I'm here, my opinion is valid and I have a complete lack of confidence that the first phrase of your sentence is true.

We may have less supporters, yes, but on the whole, but you'll need to give me one good reason why it would be that the people who go to the Reebok and support Bolton Wanderers ( in general ) are ANY different to another group of people anywhere else in the country to validify what you believe.

if we went for messi and villa them maybe thats ambition, but 2 signings are hardly worth getting excited about

AND BESIDES

I'm still f?cking p?ssed about the lisbon affair

Did I say yours wasn't? Chill Winston!

I still think you're wrong. We do not have good support at the stadium. Do we sing our hearts out for the whole game, get behind the players, don't get on their backs at any opportunity, Stay to the final whistle.....All these add up to shite support imho.

And some of the abuse Megson has received, has been over the top too, again imho.

Sorry Zoz I was only listing those sections of the crowd that have not chosen to renew yet. We have a full cross section of the twn supporting the club. It is my strong belief that this group is an accurate and fair representation of the country as a whole. If you think the Bolton fans are full of wonkers... then I think it's a general statement against all fans... not just Bolton fans!

Arnold,

I shan't be buying a Season Ticket, but I don't fall into any of your 5 categories.

Ok I can see why you think some fans are shite. I agree that some are. I'm disagreeing that 'pound for pound' [ for want of a better phrase and to sound like Ricky Hatton ;) ] ... we are any different to any other club?

I am a Bolton fan. Hath not a Bolton fan eyes? hath not a Bolton fan hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions? Fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer, as amy other fan in this country is? If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? And if you play bobbins football and charge a bloomin' fortune shall we not stay away? ;)

Arnold,

I shan't be buying a Season Ticket, but I don't fall into any of your 5 categories.

Thanks Traf :) ... you've busted me wide open ... my research was done purely over a bowl of Shreddies this morning. I promise next time to be more thorough and conducted in a much more time consuming, exhaustive manner ;)

Everyone knows Shreddies aren't conducive to accurate research.

You need something along the Crunchy Nut Clusters with Chocolate line.

Schoolboy error.

At the time, I wanted to see a full strength side in Lisbon so that we could get to the later stages of the Uefa Cup (maybe semi-finals). I f I had been Bolton's manager that's what I would have done and so would you TSO.

If you look back now at what probably would have happened had we done this, you can see that Megson did the right thing for the club, the chairman and Eddie Davies who has pumped thousands in.

This proves that Megson is a better manager than me.....and even you Special One

Cheers  ... to be honest my cereal selection has always been a constant obstacle to my ambition. I once went to an interview on Quaker Oatso Simple!!! Like a lamb to the slaughter... it was a complete disaster.

Zozzy,

TSO's not going to agree with that one, either.

b?llshit

so called senior players were rested so we could go and beat wigan

what happened there eh???

played 10 men for 87 minutes and they beat us.

going into that game, some of the players hadn't played a match for ten days,, therefore they were fit, but not match fit, there is a difference, the sharpness isn't there.

Now who's the better manager????

Agreed. And any one that went to Lisbon expecting a full team to be picked must spend their BWFC life with their head well and truly up their arse

I disagree. We have great support, we just dont have a lot of it!

i think we have poor numbers and pretty poor support

apathetic sums it up
