Note To Bwfc Re Website

whatever you paying to someone to manage that site it is too much.

new kit was on there last night but now if you go into the shop it is nt there, it should be a basic job to get stuff like this updated at the right time.

the good thing is that you are not missing out on loads of orders.

I blame the ticket office :yahoo:

Really?

Not Megson, this time?

End of the day it's a bit Rivals, they don't have a say in the template that is used.

Didn't NTL own the rights at one point?

Take a look at the link in the footer Part of the official football sites network

Happy, you ran a website on Rivals, it was nt your full time job you got fed up and moved.

Bolton are meant to be a 'proper' business the site is shite I undertsand it may make them money but how much do they lose in terms of people not being able to buy yhitngs are find out what is happening at the club ?

it is a shite site.

fans come last Ian, the website is crap however if you wanna but a spanish apartment and go to a property fair................

I was trying to find the fixtures on the the other week via my mobile, couldnt find them, went else where.

They have simply crammed that much advertising into it you cannot find anything of any relevance to the club. I never visit it unless absolutely required.

As someone who's been using the t'interweb since about 1992 and working off and on in IT for 20 years, here's how I see it:

A company's website is for providing information to their customers, unless that company is a retailer. BWFC isn't a retailer and football is going a bit like the music industry, they totally and utterly missed the internet and are now paying the price.

It's perfectly fine to subsidise the web site's (minimal) running costs by selling merchandise and having low key advertising, although this does put people off. BWFC.co.uk is virtually an advertisement site with some football news occasionally, there are F1 cars with less adverts. That's why WW and other sites are popular amongst Bolton fans, they bring you the news first, ahead of BWFC.

BWFC.co.uk should be a portal into the club, using it to cream a couple more quid out of the fans is short-termist, short-sighted and the actions of a creaking old monolithic organisation, not a young, vibrant, dynamic one.

In future, satellite TV will die due to it's limited bandwidth and TV over IP will takeover. You'll be able to watch hundreds of channels over the internet, each club will have their own channel, you'll be able to watch games and support clubs interactively from your armchair. Clubs will need fans at the games less and less. By prostituting their website, BWFC are doing sustantial damage to their chances of succeeding in the future, they just can't see it. I guess they are too far up their own arses.

BWFC have no input to what adverts go on the official site, that is run by a 3rd party company.

I.E. Majority of all football league clubs have same site and layout with same advertisement.

All the clubs have control of is the content - the stories etc.

We know this. What we are saying is that it's BWFC's choice to pimp thier online presence. Once the contract expires the should do it in house.

As a web developer, it actually makes my eyes bleed when I see BWFC's (and others) web sites! ](*,)

We know that, but the point is that someone at the club at some point decided to go down thsi route.

No doubt enticed by the promise that it will be a site that makes you money rather than costs you money.

This is a business with a multi million pound turn over.

Just imagine we had the commercial brians to make the club stand out and not just follow the crowd, give up a few grands income and spend money on something that was actually useful to the fans....

Everyone who comes on this site uses the Internet, how many use the club site ?

(shit i agree with bee dee...am worried now ! <_< )

Never...it's awful and I can never find anything that I'm looking for.

In my case, over last 12 months I've only ever used it to occassionaly check ticket info, to buy home UEFA tickets online (and my ST) and in more paranoid moments check, for certain, the KO times etc for games that have been switched for tv. It's a cluttered mess; I can get the info I need off here most of the time and it's a laugh. Most of the time.

I never go on it, can never find what I'm looking for, also if they are going to do landing pages, make them look a little bit interesting.

Didn't we sign up with NTL in the first flush of TV money, a whole package thing, I also think Newcastle did it in the prem and a whole host of Championship clubs. But how long was the contract we signed?

I would think that the new communications director will be looking for new companies as we speak becasue anyone worth their salt in comms would not settle for that garbage unless they were contractually beholden.

exactly, I come on here for the latest news!

Now if they started articles on the best way to kill an elephant on the official site, I might go on there more often

WWays can't exactly lecture BWFC on websites, the front page is 2 month out of date

Can Megson pluck us from safety??? ffs

...but the BWFC site is shite, all those owned by the NTL partnership are. There is only a few who aren't - Sunderland and Arsenal are slightly better but even those 'privately' owned still leave a lot to be desired

Now if they started articles on the best way to kill an elephant on the official site, I might go on there more often

I'll sue the feckers for pachydermial plagiarism if that happens

By the way, where did me elephant thread go? If it's archived in classics, does it get bumped back into here if I reply to it (with another, recently discovered, way to kill an elephant)?

aye, but you didn't "reply" did you? So all previous gems are invisble.

mind you, you could bore it to death with a shitty Olympic sport

has it shit itself?

off topic slightly, but made me laugh none the less

it's a "read only" article now, and doesn't allow posting. Personally, I think it's an outrage. I'm sure a kindly moderator will "unlock" it, and allow it to return to it's full glory...........................

I can't unlock it, but I have tried!

It's down to happy. Perhaps we start a petition for its return.

Is the "stan the cockslut" thread locked away in there too ?

I believe so.

It's the Wanderersways version of Dave back there.
