Will It Be Another Struggle This Season?

Featured Replies

Jussi is confident last year was a blip.

Even though we had a poor league season overall there were some crackin moments - Reading away.

I think we will be around md-table but pushing for top half - the key is a good start. Apart from i think two seasons in the Prem (since 2001) we have made a relatively good start but finshed poorly.

Still need another defender and attacking midfielder.

Come on.

NO - midtable for me...as long as key players (especially in defence) stay fit for the majourity of the season...

but the tone of the season will be set by our start. The first 4 games can easily produce 7+ points as a minimum.

mid table, be more solid at home but with Megson in charge cant see our away trips proving too fruitful.

Same here - mid table. Anything above half way will be a successful season in my eyes.

Megson in charge cant see our away trips proving too fruitful.

Getting boring now mate.

I predict a midtable season and a decent cup run

15th and happy

and win the FA Cup... well we can dream

Fcukin broken record.

Think we have a good chance of actually winning the league this year.

We have made some good signings and don't see any reason why we shouldn't be at least pushing for it

Mid table would work for me :good:

Depends on whether Megson proves to be a good manager or not; I don't see how the jury can be anything other than "out" still on that one. Tell you what, though, if we do get off to a good start and by New Year we are ticking over nicely in an unglamorous, but un-relegation haunted mid table - and especially if a couple of the newly promoted teams have bombed dramatically - then he had better take the FA Cup seriously...

All about the start for me.

Not the best time to be playing newly promoted sides, but it does

offer the opportunity to hit the ground running.

Top of the bottom half has got to be seen as a success for me.

Fans need a buzz no matter how large or small

Late 80's - a highlight (off the terraces) was the sherpa van

Early 90's - promotion from a lower division

Then Swindon

Mid 90's - Cup runs

Late 90's - Play offs

2000's - Premiership - UEFA

We know the sketch

This must beat supporting Villa etc

So whilst i expect we will plod through next season and be better than three other teams in the division we must have a distraction that will have the fans flocking through the turnstiles!

The FA Cup must be a priority to keep the buzz!

relegation battle all the way...... but at least its something to play for..... would hate to be like the Geordies/West Ham, etc - midtable mediocrity.

let's go for 10 straight defeats - give the newly promoted fodder a bit of a head start - and then kick-in just before Xmas!

relegation battle all the way......

You are joking,right?

I have not looked forward to a season as much as this for a long time.

We will be top 7,8 at least. :yahoo:

Smiley is correct

MG Whites - The month of July renews much optimism amongst supporters which is fine however being a realist is also key to avoid much disapointment

now off you pop, go and join the line for the new kit...

Dont you dare

Cheeky fcuker

14th

MG - teams who were shite when we were half decent are now half decent whilst we are less than half decent. Thus, by my reckoning, we've got 3 newly promoted teams to stay ahead of and 2 from about 5 who are bound to have a poor season. At best 15th. Hope I'm very very wrong. But just trying to be a realist.

Now what's that queue like for those new kits?

MG - Dont dare what? suggest your an optimist?

Smiley - i said 15th copy cat...

Get in the line for a new shirt :nea:

Anyhow why cant we finished near the top?

Id love to hear how we can?

and to add, would be more than happy if we did!

we're not allowed. the bigwigs at Sky won't be too happy if we do.

we have to start towing the line now. we've upset a few folk finishing higher than huge clubs like spurs, newcastle, west ham and city in recent seasons.

we have to know our place and stick to it. they really want us down and out, but are happier for us to stay near the bottom, not kick up a fuss and lie down for the top teams.

With 1 or 2 more signing our squad will be just as good as anyones outside the "big" 4.

Getting boring now mate.

sorry is this not a fans forum?, I was being honest and think mid table is acheivable but with Megson hardly being a master tactician I fel our away trips will be tough.

Yes, my point being the constant sniping of Megson is getting tedious, not that you shouldn't post. Every thread involved some form of "Megson's sh*t we're gonna fail etc etc etc" - it's just getting boring. so much bitterness can't be healthy, move on with life, Sam's gone.
