Big no no no

Being taxed to go to work is wrong.

It doesn't affect me anymore as I neither live nor work in the affected area.

But it's still a big NO from me.

Income tax is high enough , as are transport costs without another fiver a day.

Big yes from me.

Anyone who drives into manc now needs their bumps feeling as it is.

once all the public transport has been improved it'll be even more stupid.

For office workers, maybe.

A tradesman with tools and/or equipment to carry? You're having a laugh.

Thing is, will it?

a tradesman who can go into work after half 9 or before 7?

and finish before 4 or after half 6?

Thing is, will it?

that is what they've said, but if it isn't i'd hate to be any politician/councillor who tried to bring it in without the stated 80% of improvements being in place

Some do.

They may have been on one site and have to go to another.

Under the proposals, even couriers would have to pay. Perhaps they should take their parcels on the bus?

or deliver after half 9 perhaps?

no

or deliver after half 9 perhaps?

That'll be handy for folk who've paid for before 9 delivery.

If all the couriers bought a taxi each they could go in and out of Manc all day long

as someone who personally wouldn't have to pay it as it is a re-claimable expense, and would therefore get the benefit without the cost, NO.

Paying a congestion charge for dispersing is just plain daft.

I would, however, pass a law that said that children must either walk to school or be collected & deposited by school bus. This would reduce morning congestion by a considerable amount.

That'll be handy for folk who've paid for before 9 delivery.

then they can have it before 7, or set up a depot in the city centre thus not crossing any of the boundaries set up and not paying the charge.

there's ways round these things.

if anyone really wants their thing before 9:30 they will pay the ?3

yes for me!!

I live just inside!! As house prices are dropping now this should stem the flow and might actually increase the price!

No...

will Bolton see a extension of the Metro.....NO

will we see extra trains / carriages at peak times....??

Most Londeners do not think their public transport system has improve despite Livingstone promising it would....

Will we actually have the chance to say no....will we balls....they will push ahead with it regardless of whether the public wants it or not...

It's just another tax by this great government....isn't my road tax to be used for improving the road / transport system?

Big no from me.

It's just not needed.

I drive into city centre of Manchester from Cheshire and it takes 20 mins - piece of piss. Don't believe the bollox they are trying to feed you.

No...

will Bolton see a extension of the Metro.....NO Why would you want one? you would then lose the Mainline train system that runs through Bolton

will we see extra trains / carriages at peak times....?? thats what they've promised

It's just another tax by this great government....isn't my road tax to be used for improving the road / transport system? One of my favourite myths, you don't pay road tax you Vehicle Exise Duty ie it's on your vehicle

will we see extra trains / carriages at peak times....??

here you go from the website and it's probably in the consultation pack somewhere.

The investment package provides investment in extra seats and carriages across the Northern Rail franchise.

Overall the investment package would add over 7,000 seats to peak time commuter trains.

Where needed to cope with longer trains we would build new platforms or lengthen existing platforms.

You're on glue Frank if you think that is viable.

Would you be happy for one of our machines to start breaking out concrete, next to your house, at 6am?

and another thing...

In a morning

The most congested part of the journey into Manchester from is heading down the M61, from J4 to the East Lancs.

This is congested by traffic travelling around the M60 anti-clockwise to the M62 / M60 at Worsley, where it eases.

None of this traffic is heading into Manchester, but is forced to go towards Manchester, and add to the congestion.

The congestion charge will force more traffic onto this route as people making a journey from one side to the other would use the M60 too to avoid paying the charge.
