July 15, 200817 yr OM might need to sell him to raise funds for Kone. I can only see us going for him if Diouf is sold as he would prob cost about ?7-8m in todays market + his wages I'd imagine thats the rest of our budget (if we een have that left) so can't see it happening
July 22, 200817 yr Maybe not I guess it's all about options at the time I'm sure when Anelka was in his pomp at Arsenal he'd have never dreamed of playing at Bolton The difference being Anelka was and still is too good for us, whereas Cisse thinks he is too good, but is actually shite, and in fact we are too good for him (IMO).
July 23, 200817 yr The difference being Anelka was and still is too good for us, whereas Cisse thinks he is too good, but is actually shite, and in fact we are too good for him (IMO). Shite? Compared to?

July 23, 200817 yr The difference being Anelka was and still is too good for us, whereas Cisse thinks he is too good, but is actually shite, and in fact we are too good for him (IMO). Ive seen some bullshit posted on here but that is some of the worst in a long while!
July 23, 200817 yr Why can't we be linked to Andy Johnson or Bullard? - we need some pace and these two would fit the bill If AJ goes to Fulham i will be miffed.

Who gives a f?ck if we are linked with players?? Its the signing that matters.. But considering Megson has spunked ?11m on Elmander already its safe to assume a ?10m bid for Andy Johnson is very unlikely.
July 23, 200817 yr I like Bullard, he played a big part in Fulham's escape at the end of the season. ?3million as quoted in our esteemed Press? Come on. King's ransom more like. (Need to stop reading the gossip pages on BBC)

July 23, 200817 yr Shite? Compared to? Erm Anelka, Kevin Davies, most Prem strikers you care to mention. He is quick, but his finishing is sporadic at best, he has no football brain, and is not a good team player. Think of a gallic Roger Walker. Although his goals to games ratio appears healthy, he had a very poor season at Marseille last season, was dropped, and was at times booed by his own fans. Check with any knowledgeable Liverpool fan if you need further confirmation. Edited July 23, 200817 yr by bristol_wanderer

Check with any knowledgeable Liverpool fan if you need further confirmation. You state in the same paragraph that his finishing is sporadic, yet his goals to games ratio is healthy. I for one would take that thank you very much - I dare say should his finishing be less sporadic and his goals to games ratio even better then we wouldn't even be linked with him. Who would you rather us sign right now as a striker that is less "shite"? And Liverpool fans have in recent years had Owen, Fowler, Torres etc, I think it's all relative - what would these "knowledgeable" Liverpool fans say about one of our more influential players of recent times Diouf?

But we create about a third of the chances the Liverpool create, where he got 13 in 49, and probably a lot less than Marseille do given they are generally near the top of the French league, where he got 24 in 56. I haven't seen stats for his goals to chances ratio but I suspect it is low. Even if he repeats his Liverpool ratios he is only in the 9-10 per season category if he played all 38 games. KD territory if I am not mistaken - but without the wholehearted commitment. I seriously think there are far better options than him for us for the kind of money and wages he would command. He may do ok on our right in a 4-3-3 which is how Liverpool ended up playing him -although I can't imagine him tracking back with the opposing full back - but no way as an out and out stirker. Saha would be better, Riga sounds better for us given he can play wide and has a 1 in 3.5 ratio in a stuggling side, and is far cheaper. I am sure there are many other better options. Still it is all about opinions...
July 23, 200817 yr A striker who gets 9 goals a season isn't a problem, as long as you have 2 more like him!

You're right, it's about opinions - and mine are Saha is rarely fit (yeah I know Cisse has melting bones too) and I can't say I'd honestly heard of Riga prior to this speculation...if they're the only 2 other options that are out there, I'm still with the Lord of Frodsham on this one. It may all be irrelevant though as I fear that Citeh or West Ham would be more fasionable options
July 23, 200817 yr A striker who gets 9 goals a season isn't a problem, as long as you have 2 more like him! Thats 9 goals if he stays fit, keeps his place, we create a shed load of chances for him, and he avoids punching adolescent boys or pregnant women!
