My Freezing Pc

My PC seems to have developed a fault, after about 5 mins the screen freezes

I've run a could or virus scans using vations programms but there are no picking anything up

I've reluctantly deleted my port stash plus a few other programmes that I don't really use

But it's still freezing

What's the diagnostics homos?

Try System restore and restore it back to a date it was not freezing! Otherwise it looks gloomy! Back door trojan or your motherboard is on its way out! What anti virus are you using and are you using Spyware Doctor? (free download from google pack)

I'd see how long it takes to freeze, is it constantly taking the same amount of time?

I used AVG and Virgin Media anti virus software

There is no set time with the freezing, it only happens when I open a browser and takes between 5 and 25 mins, the PC does not freeze when the browsers are shut

I've used both Explorer and Firefox and it's happining to both browers

Do I need to take an axe to my hard drive and start again?

Get your teacher mate to help you out!!

no idea what the virgin one is, but its generally considered to be problematic running two avs on one system.

I didn't think Widnes minded the odd back door virus.

The AVG is 7.5 I think

I've run both the anti virus for over 12 months and never had a problem, I'll try deleting one later

If it's the motherboard, Is that the reason why the voices haven't been passing my orders on from the mothership?

The cloroforms building up so if you're receiving this transmission Glaxica 9, can you let me know what you want me to do with the bodies

Many Thanks

AVG 8.0 is now out - are they still doing updates for your version?

Yeah, still receiving daily updates

I am going to delete tonight to see if that solves the problem, If not I shall download version 8

I'm using XP and recently downloaded service pack 3

Could this be the root cause?

Oh and I've been wearing a pair of navy blue gymn knickers all week but was hoping to avoid admitting this

Could be the build up of smeg. Try turning em inside out.

Failing that - have you run any anti spyware stuff? SpyBot and AdAware are free.

There's your problem. If it's time of the month, you should know that you are required to put a pleated gym skirt on too!

Schoolgirl error!

Have you tried the old stick you todger in the the fan trick?

Really

I didn't think I neded the pleated skirt as I have no intention of doing any handstands

I've run a couple of spyware programs too and they have all the 'Cultural Attaches' been removed plus I've been talking in code so I don't think it will be much use to the uninvited people who've been looking through the keyhole

Yes I don't think it worked, but mysteriously enough, very soon after I noticed 3 pints of cottage cheese on the wall, Can't for the life of me think how it could possiblty have gotten there

And you think that'll help?

make sure you've plenty of disk space left and that the drive isn't constantly being written written to. Uninstall all software that's not essential and defrag the disk. Boot up in safe mode (shift+f8) and do a full virus scan. you could also try a system restore as someone else suggested. If after all that you still can't find the problem you're probably screwed and will need to reinstall windows. Also make sure it isn't overheating - take the cas off and put a great big desk fan facing it and see if it still crashes (remember to turn on the desk fan).

Stick some de icer on the monitor and all the wires. If that doesn't work take off the pc casing and spray some de icer everywhere.

Should work widnes

Pouring hot water down the back seems to have done the trick

Fired the old bird up at 4.00 o'clock and it's not frozen yet

So to those of you who lick both sides or the stamp, you half rice/half chips type

Thank you and you can now continue your happy shopping
