August 6, 200817 yr aye 15 years at statutory - about 4500 wooo don't spend it all at once Back in 1999, a bloke I worked with got made redundant when part of the business moved over to Munich. He was on about ?45K per year, and had been with the company for just over ten years, so he thought he would be able to take a few months off and then look for a job. He thought he was in line for a months wage for every year he had been there, plus obviously his months notice Imagine the horror, when he realised he was only getting statutory, which equated to him getting just under ?3K, which wasn't even a months wage..........(he did get his months notice as well though I hasten to add) He was Australian though, and a bit of a beef curtain, so I was quite pleased

Or like my dad, he got a ?20K pay off at 59, took his pension (good), then the buggers took him back on on the same money six months later with no loss of service, he's 67 and still there !!! They would offer Early Retirement, and could make him an offer. He could get his FULL Pension pay out. My Mum had 25 Years Service in and Retired 12 months ago, she got more than ?30 K......from a part time contract.

I`m surprised they havn`t tried to push your dad out before now Pablo if he`s got 40 years in, as there are hardly any old timers at the scrapyard/shithouse,it`s what the twats like Crozier likes to call `natural wastage.`

He was off last month for a week, and they couldn't cope, they ain't got a clue. He is looking at taking retirement in the next 12 - 18 Months, then do some Haulage a few days a week.
August 7, 200817 yr Author Mate of mine was in the Royal Irish Regiment and signed up for 4yrs in Home Service in about May 2002,anyhow with them disbanding the RIR Home Service in his last year of Service he got something like a few bob short of ?48,000,now he could of signed up for longer im not too sure but still that's a fair foooking whack!Wakes up this morn and he's sent me a picture of his nearly new Range Rover Vogue thingymebob complete with 22 inch Alloy Wheels and has gone away with the enemy to Ibiza for 2 weeks,then has the cheek to say you should of done Home Service rather than General Service!Gutted isn't the word!But good on the lad,you wouldn't turn it down!
