Megson Out

I read you post just fine. You stated that you'd prefer to watch drab, dull, defensive football in the bottom third of the premier league beacuse you actually seem to care about/listen the thoughts of the so called pundits.

its sport..

an entertainment business..

we are FAR from entertaining..

Entertaining the fans will not and can not ensure the survival of the business though, staying in the Prem will. Without the business, we have no Bolton Wanderers.

I'm not arguing, I agree we are not entertaining and I'd love to relive the days of Johanson and Thompson bombing up the wings.. BUT football has changed.

I said I enjoy proving people wrong. I do. that is not the sole reason I want to be in the premiership, but one of many.

I do not 'care' about pundits, I do not lose sleep if someone doesn't like Bolton - I'd be a fcuking insomniac!

I didn't say anywhere i prefer 'drab, dull, defensive football' - I said I would rather be scrapping in the prem than scrapping in the championship. By scrapping - I mean, in the shakeup, in the position to be in the premiership in the first place.

BUT football has changed.

You are correct, and we are not the only team playing this way. I cancelled my Sky Sports subscription because premier league football is just so f?cking dull, I simply can't watch it anymore. And this is the same reason that the current trend is not sustainable. Within 3 - 5 years it will just be a sport for rich arabs who couldnt give a sh!t.

Finally we agree. That is my point. when the mega-rich fcuk off elsewhere, there will be no money in domestic football. I would quite like to have a few years of premiership money in the bank when this happens.

Why?

Re-read. We're talking about two different leagues here.

I can see where Tyler is coming from, personally love to stay in the premier league, if we could play half reasonable football, that does not look likely under the current club ownership/management, so for me I would prefer to drop a division and try to attemt to play a decent style of football, throw in 2 games a week and loads of northern fixtures and it seems comfortably welcoming.

If we dropped a division it wouldn't stop there. I'd be all for the excitement of being a winning second tier club. The problems come when you go from second tier to third and forth tier. I remember it and didn't like it. It'd be no fun being in an all-seater stadium with 300 people and 28,000 plastic seats for company.

Gone would be the TV revenue.

Gone too would be the likelyhood of a rich bloke taking over.

Still, the League and FA Cup games against higher opposition such as Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, etc. would be worth turning out for!

it wouldn't happen

go down a division and there'd be more shittus than you could shake a stick at

and mccanns

j obs etc

the taylors / cahills / elmanders of the world wouldn't come near us

we'd be f?cked

and megson would still be in charge

does anyone who thinks megson should be sacked think it is realistic that it might actually happen ?

if so, who do you think realistic options are ?

the sad fact is that we are stuck with him for the foreseeable future.

he has done the job in the way the people who appointted him would have expected, he did the job of keeping us up, so why do you think the Board will sack him now.

I would like to see him sacked but cant see it. The board may decide to sack him for the fact that after a year in charge and about ?15m (ish) spent we are in exactly the same position with even less coming through the gate.

We're 4 games in FFS!

Megson was successful last season. He might yet be this season too.

PS before the pedants start: I'm of the opinion that staying up represents success for a little, provincial, not-wealthy club like ours.

Cheers Traf. As a numb coont then, I'll also surmise that Cassie doesn't agree with my comments about the manager (who he seems to defend at every turn). I ain't a rabid 'Mugson out' man, I am just arriving at the conclusion that if you insist on dancing on a trapdoor, one day you'll fall through it. I can't see us being anywhere other than in the bottom 6 or 8 ever under Gary Megson.

IMO it is only a question of when Megson goes rather than if. The lad ain't got it.

traf read it reet

We have to get a formation that enables us to play as many of our quicker more mobile players as possible, riga/gardner/smolarek/davies/muamba/steinson/taylor/elmander and even vaz te come into that category and would be the back bone of the team, for me the likes of j.obrien/nolan/mcann/shittu, are the players who should be be dropped.

I wholeheartedly agree with this post.

As I have stated previously the pool of midfield players we have to choose from is possibly one the worst in the Premiership ever.

I appreciate we have very little choice now and some of the players we are hoping will save us don't have any experience of the Premiership BUT if we persist with playing Nolan/JOB/Mcann all together we will be relegated for sure. We can only afford to carry one of those at the most with their pace [ or lack of it ]

Maybe its kamikaze but it's time to stop being negative and packing midfield.

Early days yet....and only going to get worse in the near future.

I think meggers is sh?te, but he isn't going anywhere so we might as well get behind the lads and hope for the best. He's bought well, can't deny that, but I'm still miffed he was given more money than our ex-messiah to spend <_<

I'll be happy with us staying up, simple as that, and with the ginger in charge that's the best we'll ever manage anyway.

well said, and yes the team will have my 100% backing in every game, but the subject of whether Megson is or is not the right man needs airing, debate on this site is the only avenue the fans have, and as proven in the past on other matters, a way to pressure the club for change.

Would be nice, Tyler. But aren't we losing money every year we're in the Prem ?

1) I don't think we are losing money as a business

2) IF we are losing money - we'd lose a shiteload more outside the Premiership!

you aint watched very often then

starter for ten, a very similar 2-1 defeat at, surprisingly enough, craven cottage bout 3 years back

I was at that game too and the 4-1 defeat at loftus road. Did you come out of tem games thinking we would not be ok or did we play 9 defensive players in any of them games. I have watched often we all have our opinions and that was the worst game I have ever seen us play.

We havent even played anyone good yet!!

Last season we didnt do too well against the top 10 teams.

Fulham might just scrape the top ten this season, rest of the teams we have played are dog shit.
