November 1, 200817 yr I could be wrong. But, I think they've had more success with um, than we ever did.
November 2, 200817 yr I could be wrong. But, I think they've had more success with um, than we ever did. Surely that should mean they get slated more.
November 2, 200817 yr why do they get praised when we always got slated? very odd. okochas long throw was a lob into the box whereas delaps' is more a like a "whipped in" free kick
November 2, 200817 yr People only started slated us once they realised we were not going away (and sourpuss decided to moan about us after another defeat of his Mighty Toon team)! Our first couple of seasons back 2nd time, we were not quiet media darlings, but got a lot less flak. Then we had the cheek to send down the World Cup winners. That was the point the nail was firmly hit into the coffin! Stoke will have the same adulation, until they (if) start to cause a threat consistently
November 3, 200817 yr Author according to bbc 7 of City's 13 Premier League goals have come as a result of Delap throws.
November 3, 200817 yr Not sure bout the praise, most radio pundits i've heard lately are giving em as much stick as we got.
November 4, 200817 yr Managers on the wrong end of long throws / rough-house tactics, seem to be a lot gracious than they used to. Instead of complaining about the style of play they go on about them 'playing to their strengths' and 'doing what they're good at'. Even sourpuss Wenger said something along those lines after losing at Stoke which must have seriously pissed him off. I was expecting more of a "Zey throw the ball at the goal. It is not football."
November 4, 200817 yr Stoke are getting mullerd for it, by everyone....who thinks they are getting praised ???
November 4, 200817 yr Author i suppose they aint getting praised, but ive not seen much against it, like it was against us. maybe its just because i just dont the read much about stoke? for the record, i think its a cracking weapon to have. Edited November 4, 200817 yr by HomerJay
November 4, 200817 yr Is Delap's long throw better than that guy who used to play for Tranmere? Dave something?
November 4, 200817 yr Is Delap's long throw better than that guy who used to play for Tranmere? Dave something? Challinor. I reckon. Delap's are like missiles.
November 4, 200817 yr Delap is 32, why has he been so shite and unoticed for his previous 10 or so years as a pro
November 4, 200817 yr Delap is 32, why has he been so shite and unoticed for his previous 10 or so years as a pro cos he is a jug eared freak.
November 4, 200817 yr cos he is a jug eared freak. A friend of mine is good friends with the family. Says the kids look exactly the same. Not sure they can throw the ball as far though. Hopefully they can so they might have some redeeming feature in life.
November 4, 200817 yr I was surprised that Wenger accepted the defeat and didn't complain about the tackles that were flying in, until now.
November 4, 200817 yr I was surprised that Wenger accepted the defeat and didn't complain about the tackles that were flying in, until now. Imagine what he'd have said if a Stoke player had ran into Almunia the way RVP did to Sorensen.
November 4, 200817 yr RVP has made some of the worst tackles I've ever seen, up there with Souness and Keano.
November 4, 200817 yr Even sourpuss Wenger said something along those lines after losing at Stoke which must have seriously pissed him off. I was expecting more of a "Zey throw the ball at the goal. It is not football." http://msnsport.skysports.com/story/0,1952...4454712,00.html he tried to keep it all in but he just couldnt
November 4, 200817 yr reason why people don't mind it is because stoke are new, will still probably go down (or people think they will) and it'll be a one season novelty our slatings started when we started getting into the top half of the table and it looked like us and our style of play were there to stay
why do they get praised when we always got slated?
very odd.
