Billy Russell's juniors saw their hopes of a run in the FA Youth Cup extinguished as they were beaten 4-0 by Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.

 

In a tight first half both sides had chances but it was Wanderers who managed to convert one of them as Michael O'Halloran's 22nd minute goal gave them a precious 1-0 lead going into the break.

 

Going into the second period, the Tigers were still very much alive but two goals inside a four minute spell effectively ended the tie as a contest. First, Aaron Mooy netted in the 46th minute to make it 2-0 and just four minutes later Maison McGeechan struck a killer blow for Wanderers with their third goal.

City refused to lie down though and created opportunities themselves with Tom Cairney and Yann Ekra both going close to reducing the deficit. However, the home side put the seal on their victory in the 89th minute with Danny Ward blasting a free-kick past Ben Hallam from 25-yards

Thought they played well. The two goals straight after the break killed the game as a contest. Quite impressed with the performance.
