Thought they played well. The two goals straight after the break killed the game as a contest. Quite impressed with the performance.

thought the blonde lad up front played well. good eye for a pass. lucky with the goal though.

Good win. Forest in the next round. Already beaten them this season, It wont be as easy as tonight though!

anybody who should have been on the bench last Saturday

two points

1.It has been in the first team programme since September that we lost 0-4 at home to Forest so i had been wanting Boro to win.But looking on the Forest site there is a match report and we did beat them 4-0 so are probably favourites to reach our first quarter final since,i think 1971/72

2.A man in front of me wearing a Hull hat purchased 15 programmes. It will be interesting to see if they go on ebay and how much over the 20p cover price they sell for.

or maybe just his lad was playing and wanted to get them for all the family?? :pardon:

Horwich J-Lloyd is the one. Left back.

Another good game by him.

I thought they played quite well and passed it around well. They seemed to be trying to get the ball wide as often as possible and didn't just hoof it.

It was an improvement from the last game, but Hull seemed poor, even though they looked an older, and bigger team. One of Bolton's subs was about 4 foot tall.

No sign of Megson or Sunbed there and didn't see any of the first team in the crowd, although there were a few posh cars on the car park.

It was nice to see some goals.

I agree with Horwich that the full backs looked comfortable on the ball, however they weren't really tested, and a couple of the lads up front looked decent. It wouldn't do any harm to stick them on the bench now and again to get a taste of how the first team is run and give them a bit of confidence, otherwise how will they learn.

Nathan Battersby is one to watch out for. Came off the bench is only 16!

Mr Megson wasn't there. maybe there was something interesting on the box.

I was told that Phil Brown was there, but I didnt see him myself.

I was good to see that Mr Gartside was present.

I'll be at the City Ground to support the young un's in the next round.

Not sure of date yet.

George - If you want some programmes bringing back, pm me.

Interesting comments about last night. Didn't recognise any of them so have to go off programme numbers.

I was impressed by the centre-backs, especially Bennett (went off injured late on - there's a surprise).

Mooy showed up a lot, looked confident, always trying to make things happen. Poor first touch though.

Thought the fullbacks (especially right) need to tighten up their positional play (that's familiar too).

Quick tricky wingers, especially O'Halloran.

Both midfielders neat & hard workers, but on the small side (sounds traditional).

Wouldn't say any are ready for 1st team bench ahead of ex-Academy players we already have available.

Thought I saw Cahill in car park, but may have been going for a meal in hotel. Thought I saw Fojut inside stadium.

Nottingham Forest's hopes of FA Youth Cup glory were ended for another season as they were beaten 1-0 by Bolton at The City Ground.

Forest had already overcome Premier League opposition in the form of West Ham and Middlesbrough to reach the fifth round stage.

But their challenge for the most prestigious prize in under 18s football faltered on a damp and dismal evening on Trentside.

Bolton narrowly edged out The Reds - thanks to a Maison McGeechan goal - to secure a quarter-final trip to either Liverpool or Chelsea.

McGeechan bagged the only goal of the game three minutes into the second half as he coolly fired past goalkeeper Karl Darlow from Aaron Mooy's perfectly-weighted through ball.

Forest's youth cup campaign has been characterised by gutsy performances and that quality again came to the fore as they looked for an equaliser.

They almost levelled matters three minutes after McGeechan's goal, a Matt Sykes header from a George Thomson cross forcing visiting 'keeper Tom Brocklehurst tomake an outstanding save.

Bolton came close to doubling their lead as Michael O'Halloran fired against an upright before the woodwork denied Forest an equaliser, central defender Tony Diagne hammering a shot against the bar.

Nialle Rodney was inches away from forcing a 70th minute equaliser, while a deflected shot from Thomson had Brocklehurst at full stretch.

The Bolton No.1 denied Forest again in the dying seconds of the game as he blocked Tim Hopkinson's shot from close range.

The Reds had the better chances of a scrappy first half. Rodney planted a free header over the bar from a Thomson corner after just 14 minutes.

And on the stroke of half-time Hopkinson stabbed wide from close range after Brocklehurst had failed to claim another Thomson cross.

Forest: Karl Darlow, Jordan Fairclough, Kieron Freeman, Daniel Elliott, Sean McCashin, Tony Diagne, George Thomson, Max Wright, Nialle Rodney, Tim Hopkinson, Matt Sykes (Tom Mullen 59 mins).

Subs not used: Kevin O'Brien, Riteesh Mishra, Karl Watson, Tarik Bengelloun.

Bolton: Tom Brocklehurst, Joseph Riley, Matthew Carlisle, Rhys Bennett, Christopher Stokes, Grant Spencer, Michael O'Halloran, Adam Blakeman (Javlon Campbell 77 mins), Daniel Ward, Aaron Mooy, Maison McGeechan.

Subs not used: Jay Lynch, Tom Eckersley, Marcos Michail, George Pawley.

Scorer: McGeechan (48 mins)

Booked: Stokes (29 mins)

Confirmed on SKY that we won 1-0

Great result for the kids tonight.

Anyone know the last year we reached the quarters in the youth cup.

Just back. Good win for the young uns. Even first half, we started the 2nd half well. Scored one and hit the post. Forest hit the bar later on.

Chelsea or Liverpool in the next round away.

According to george its the first time we have reached the quater-finals since 1971/72 season, and i would back him to be right on that, great effort from the lads, and still yet to conceed a goal, but the next game is going to be a tough one, they will be strong underdogs but i think that might help them, fingers crossed they just might pull off a shock..all the team played well tonight with good shape and workrate throughout the side, defensively we looked very strong, especially the keeper tom brocklehurst who was top draw. :yahoo:
