Current record against top half of table

Played 13

Won 2

Drawn 0

Lost 11

For 7

Against 26

Failed to score in 9 out of 13 games.

Still to play

West Ham (H)

Fulham (H)

Chelsea (A)

Villa (H)

Wigan (A)

Man City (A)

It?s carried on from last season, we had a poor record against the top sides last season.

Hopefully, big gary will have a look at his tactics over the summer, as they are clearly not working against the better sides in the league.

given we beat city and west ham of the 6 we have to play summat is wrong.....given you say we have only won 1.

And will those top ten sides we have to play still be in the top ten when we play them.

aye, Hull were top 10 when we beat them as well

You can't argue about the results against the current top 6 though - who (apart from Hull) have been there for most of the season and will probably be there for the remainder:

Played 10 Lost 10 Goals scored 3 Goals against 22

Its pretty bloody poor, I wouldn't mind if we could say we had had a good go against them and come of worse in a decent game but apart from the Villa match, we haven't turned up in any of them!

We didn't turn up at Villa either! Did you mean Arsenal where we clung on until the last few minutes? Or maybe United where we again lasted most of the game.

and utd away where we were ultimately undone by a p?ss poor penalty descision and w?nk shooting from muamba

i would say we didn't "turn up" to

Liverpoool away

Everton away

and that's it

Arsenal at home is debatable as they played that well would've been tough fer anyone to compete

Chelsea at home was a non event though I just checked on the official site and it reckons we had 10 on target and 11 off!!!!

arsenal scored in 87th minute, united in injury time....you post some decent views at times but there is also a lot of blinkered all the club do is wrong stuff.

wigan are the worlds greatest team, managed by the worlds greatest manager

whats their record against the big 4/5

genuine question, though i do suspect its not much better than ours

By turning up, I don't mean defending on the edge of the penalty box for 87 minutes before conceding. If I included these games, then yes we have 'turned up' in a few of the games this season against the top 6.

What I mean is at least making a game of it by having the confidence to go forward in more numbers than 1 or 2 at best! I would rather see us get a few stuffings against the 'top 6' sprinkled with a few surprise results because we at least turned up wanting to have a go and make a game of it.

As it is, we seem to be either already defeated or hanging on for a 0-0 from the first whistle against the top teams this season, be it at home or away.

p.s. this is not doom and gloom / have a dig at Megson time but I have become more and more pissed off this season with our performances (or lack of) against the top teams. I know anything against the top 6 is a bonus but come the end of the season it could just be these bonus points that seperate those above the relegation line and those below.

Do you get more points for beating the top teams?

If you lose to the top teams, and beat the bottom teams (which is what we have been doing) you'll end up mid-table, which is where we want to be. Whats the problem?

The problem is if you don't beat the bottom teams regularly you are gonna be in sh?t

Writing off 25-30% of the games is a joke

I don't give them much hope of a point from the three games remaining so they're not significantly better than us.

But they have beaten Everton aswell.

I wouldnt mind another 5 points at the moment.

My point of this thread was to highlight how bad we have done (once again) against the better sides in the league. If we want to improve, we need to start getting some points from these games.

If we won every game against the bottom teams as you say there wouldn't be a problem,we would be safe from relegation. But we don't

The bottom 3 sides are West Brom,Middlesbrough and Blackburn. We have won 1 of the 4 league games against them

You could also have said we have played the current bottom 3 teams 4 times and haven't lost yet.

Glass half full! :drinks:

so if we're not beating the top teams, and rarely beating the bottom ones, where in shitting crikey are we getting our points from?
