Fuck Me, Aren't West Ham Half Decent

Amongst all the idiots today moaning about how defensive we are. I couldn't help admire what a good team West Ham seem to be. Their midfield ran rings round us today, its was only the grit and determination of our men in white that meant we got the three points.

Can't remember a team coming to the reebok and making such an impression on me

really???

good average team at best imo.

us defending so high in the 1st half was making them look good, especially with some iffy offside desicions.

I dont agree with that. I thought they were a poor side. Apart from when they scored they were appaling in front of goal.

Good goal though

Was it Noble who had an open goal and then passed to his team mate? How odd was that? That didn't shout "half decent" to me.

They certainly weren't a poor side, i agree with homer, a good average side.

They were poor in front of goal!!

You said they were a poor side, appalng infront of goal

They were definatley above average from what ive seen at the reebok this season. Theyve got good potential to be a top half side if they carry on building, i think we are on a similar level with them though.

P.S Upson is a fucking puff and should never see an England shirt again and there was only one striker today who looked good enough for an England chance and that was Kevin Davies.

I thought today would be the usual easy(ish) home game against West Ham. Though I was impressed with WHU, more so than I have been with a visiting team for a while.

I was quite impressed with them. Stroked the ball about quite well, often the simple ball whereas we appear to try and complicate things, needlessly IMO. Some good footballers in that side.Thought Carlton Cole looked dangerous throughout, don't rate his Italalian partner though. I would think they are quite miffed they didn't get anything

Thought we battled well though, none more than SKD who had a right battle with Upson. 3 good points. Onwards and upwards. :drinks:

good team play proper football good man zola B)

the reason they got back into the game was down to the fact we took our foot off after getting two up. same as blackburn same as spurs. second half we let them come on too us too much. I thought today the midfield were too deep in the second half giving them too much space. Still speaks volumes that we were two up against those three sides. Mccann excellent today.

thought they were a good side, their goal summed up the way they approached it

we did well at the back when we had too, had they equalised i would've suspected a 3rd but we did enough in the opening 25 minutes going forward and enough solid defending to warrant a win

did we bollocks, in fact some of our play was naive at best, in the period after the second goal

piling forward, all the midfielders in front of the ball

fcuking crazy, it was

kudos for the sarcasm, effectively used. Whatever you're opinion of today was, you can't deny recently we aren't good at being two nil up. we defended excellently today in the 2nd half and we were good in the first half but we shouldn't allow ourselves to be put under so much pressure. The fact that it has happened in three out of the last four games suggests that part of the problem is down to us. Attacking relentlessly is definately not the answer, but neither is playing too deep. There are other options other than all out attack and backs to the walls. A bit of composure and better posession would help. I hope we can beat Newcastle comfortably without them having sustained pressure and two cleared off the line, but if someone offered me that now i'd still take it. Onwards and upwards. :)

And as he passed it/bottled it, the flag should have gone up for offside.

After the Spurs game Harry Redknapp said they battered us second half, did they feck. The spuds had a good two minutes, yesterday West Ham in the second half did batter us, no question about that. Its the first time they've put a stint in at the Bok, so you could say that it was overdue. Now how much that was down to us sitting back & West Ham playing well is up for debate. It was painful to watch us making the same mistakes we did against Blackburn we should have put tha game out of sight, likewise yesterday in the first half but we didn't. 2 goals up at home and we go to sleep. Only last gasp defending, some good luck and poor finishing prevented us from being beat.

If I was a Hammers fan leaving the Reebok I'd have felt gutted 4-2 even 5-2 may not have flattered them

4-2!

1) Should have had Upson sent off at 2-0 for a two-footed lunge from behind on Davies with no attempt of winning it.

2) Should have had Noble sent off at 2-1 for tackling Puygrenier's knee instead of the ball.

3) We might have had a penalty, as might they difference between two being the fact that we had no second attempt after it.

Yes, they played well, but we defended equally as well when the assistant was looking at the play and a win was in no way that far removed from reality as a 4-2 or 5-2 would have been.

indeed, though i believe it was 2-0 in the latter case

point remains

May well have been 2-0, MOTD didn't show either or the penalty decision so am not enitrely sure on the order of the incidents. Although I'm sure had it been us tackling them in that fashion a sh!tstorm may well have been rasied.

There was also Upson's elbow on Jussi.

I wouldn't say West Ham played well second half, more Parker was outstanding, up front they lacked the killer instinct, part of that may have been down to Cahill admittedly, and defensively they had nothing to do once we stopped attacking.
