That's great for them (and me!) but we aren't under the juristiction of the Dutch legal system, although we both fall under European law.

I pay my licence for sport and not cookery, soaps or some dumb so called celebrity skating on *uckin ice. Ive kicked Skysports ito touch, I get all the games televised on my lap top and games live from Satanta. With an extention lead and a bit of know how my 42 inch telly gives me as good a picture as the ?50 a month sky sports does. *uck em. Well thats only my opinion.

If you're getting as good a picture from your PC as you were off Sky, I'd be on the phone to them asking for all your money back.

We are talking 100% legal feeds, like Betfair TV here. I watched Sporting v Benfica and Guimaraes v Trofense on it this weekend, nothing dodgy.

 

I have a Dell Hybrid PC next to my tv, it's wired to my router, no wireless shit. I can watch legal but all the dodgy ones usually are pretty shit.

Admitedly I have HD which makes the standard look bobbins, but whenever I VGA my PC to my TV for these things the picture is worse than the moon broadcasts.

HD is great, but Sky is like a moon broadcast to me.

my brother in law has a feed to the tele, whilst you can make out whats going on in the game, I could not watch it, too fuzzy. Rather just switch the radio on.

skysports is nowhere near as bad as itvs low bitrate broadcasts.

 

web broadcasts are still way behind in terms of quality. but they will get there eventually.

 

just need more accessible bandwidth obviously.

 

getting a bit geeky now but, bitrate required for h264 compression (similar quality to sky hd) is about 20Mbit. and you'd be doing really well if you could sustain half this speed on bt's phone lines.

Carl, I don't know how you can watch Portugese football out of choice. I did the Sporting v Benfica game on Saturday and again, I was bored to f?ck (even though it finished 3-2).

Sluffy, I didn't give a point of view on what would, will, might or won't happen without Sky revenue. I merely wrote that your missive wasn't necessarily what will happen.

 

It's OK posting long articles, and I occasionally agree with them, but your opinion is just that; an opinion. I was playing Devil's Advocate and pointing out an alternative result of the lack of Sky funding. Who's to say either would be correct? We won't know until it happens.

However the experience following from ITV Digital - together with what happened in respect of the CD and DVD markets - would suggest that clubs would still survive, with the performers (in this case the footballers) being the biggest losers in terms of much reduced wages - and that the cost of the product (in the case the cost of getting in the ground) will fall to become more competitive to its rival (the free football streams).

 

 

I think that one is open to question, I for one don't read them.

It's going to be the quality of the actual stream and their connection plus the stability of the internet. All you can have is a decent connection and hope for the best. I was watching 2 at once last night, the bottleneck isn't at your side.

ive found that veetle streams are much better that sopcast or tvants for instance.

 

i always look for those 1st.

 

standard media player streams are very hit and miss, so i usually avoid those.
