February 22, 200917 yr There was something on bbc website today. They would be better not bothering trying to stop it, its the way the world is going!
February 22, 200917 yr feature coming up now on radio5 after the one about kidnapping in the uk The programme confirmed that it is NOT illegal to watch a live stream but it is however illegal to broadcast the stream.
February 22, 200917 yr Author aye, and thats bout all it did is that what my tv licence pays for? absolute shite
February 22, 200917 yr This site used to allow links to the live feeds ,how come this has now been stopped? Most other football boards still allow links, has there been a threat of legal action?
February 22, 200917 yr Author in a word yes thewanderer still have a thread providing 'em presume theyve not had any threats it'll be because theyre insignificant
February 22, 200917 yr Have you not been on for a few weeks? I am always on ,but apart from threads telling people not to post links i could not remember a thread explaining why. I was interested to know if it was a legal threat or the site owner deciding not to allow them.
February 22, 200917 yr in a word yes thewanderer still have a thread providing 'em presume theyve not had any threats it'll be because theyre insignificant who made the threats cassie and what did the threaten?
February 22, 200917 yr http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...rem/7902769.stm the only matches people watch on illegal streams are ones not on the telly as the quality of most streams is dire so how will it affect the TV deal?
February 22, 200917 yr I was watching Liverpool vs Man City on my pc. Great quality. Thats why it affects the tv deal. People can watch good quality on pc. No need to pay sky. Sky receive less money = TV deals reduce = Players can only afford 2 bentleys.
February 22, 200917 yr the only matches people watch on illegal streams are ones not on the telly as the quality of most streams is dire so how will it affect the TV deal? Just as Horwich says above. It's a bit like CD's and DVD's - a few years ago they cost a lot more money than they do now - the price as not come down because the manufacturers think it is a good idea - but because people were simply down loading them for free. A massive chunk of football financing is from Sky - so what if people stopped paying for Sky sport and simply watched a stream for free? If this happened Sky would get a lot less money, so when they next bid to screen Premiership games they would offer a great deal less to the clubs than they do now. So it could be argued that the more people watching streams would actually help to bring down the cost of watching football - as the clubs will be getting less and less from Sky and would need to bring their entrance fees down to attract fans to attend games (rather than watch for free on streams).
February 22, 200917 yr So it could be argued that the more people watching streams would actually help to bring down the cost of watching football - as the clubs will be getting less and less from Sky and would need to bring their entrance fees down to attract fans to attend games (rather than watch for free on streams). Or it could be argued that a club without Sky money would either put prices up to try to balance the books or go out of business without the Sky money. So those watching life feeds are actually killing live football. But in Sluffy's world that isn't an option!
February 22, 200917 yr Or it could be argued that a club without Sky money would either put prices up to try to balance the books or go out of business without the Sky money. So those watching life feeds are actually killing live football. But in Sluffy's world that isn't an option! Well it was the BBC's opinion - but I share it. A football club is selling a product - and supply and demand determines the price of that product. All clubs outside the Premiership (apart from those recently relegated who receive 'parachute' payments) survive without any significant Sky funding. They ALL have lower entrance charges than Premiership clubs. A large percentage of Sky's money to the clubs actually go directly to the players in wages - so a fall in Sky revenue would more likely result in a fall in players salaries and not in the clubs going out of business as you suggest. Actually we have already had a recent case study in this country when a TV company stopped funding football clubs - when ITV Digital collapsed (I post a link below for your information) - and all the clubs that were effected by the sudden collapse of the deal are still in existence (albeit somewhat poorer). Unlike the public sector (in which I believe you are employed) businesses have not got guaranteed financing and as such will take whatever action is necessary to continue trading successfully. This will include reducing its costs (players wages) and increasing revenue - which may include reducing their prices to attract more customers (it's better to have say 20,000 fans paying ?15 = ?300,000 than say 10,000 fans paying ?28 = ?280,000). The companies that make CD's and DVD's are still making a profit even though a great deal of illegal downloading is taking place - it's just that the rock and film stars are not being paid as much as they once were. However the price of CD's DVD's are now say a quarter of what they once were and many people buy them because they are now easily affordable. A similar event would happen at Premiership clubs without Sky funding - players wages would fall and most probably the cost of going to a match would once again become easily affordable to most people who would then pay what they considered to be a reasonable amount to watch rather than view the game at home ? for free - on a stream. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/1896732.stm
February 22, 200917 yr In short I agree with Sluffy Less TV money doesn't mean clubs going bust It just means them spending less on players fees and wages Trouble might be that the debt a lot of clubs have racked up would seem astronomical without the future TV revenue to pay it back However I think that less money in the game wouldn't be a bad thing, essentially it would just mean less Champions League success for the top sides - but even that's debatable if you look at our record in the 70's and 80's when the Italians had the money (though they also had a foreign player limit) It's all well and good saying these big name foreigners have 'graced the league' but it was always plenty enough entertaining when the bulk of the players were British
February 23, 200917 yr I received an email last season from some legal team who work for the Premier League and they told me politely it was an offence to post links as the live games are shown illegally. They also told me not to advertise pubs who show the games for the same reasons. This site is well read by many and word gets around very quickly.
February 23, 200917 yr Premier League lawyer Oliver Weingarten warned that the atmosphere at stadiums could suffer if fans stay at home and watch the action on illegal pirate sites rather than going along to the game. Gate receipts and catering sales, an important source of income, could also be affected. How hippocritical can you get. Sky not only televises matches to disincentivise fans from attending but it also buggers up kick off times and match days. Long live the revolution.
February 23, 200917 yr Sluffy, I didn't give a point of view on what would, will, might or won't happen without Sky revenue. I merely wrote that your missive wasn't necessarily what will happen. It's OK posting long articles, and I occasionally agree with them, but your opinion is just that; an opinion. I was playing Devil's Advocate and pointing out an alternative result of the lack of Sky funding. Who's to say either would be correct? We won't know until it happens.

To be honest I am on the point of cancelling all inclusive subscription to sky. Its simply not worth the money.
February 23, 200917 yr I think you are correct again. To be honest I am on the point of cancelling all inclusive subscription to sky. Its simply not worth the money. How often are BWFC actually shown live on sky anyway? often its a home game against a top team (a game i would be at anyway) illegally shown games on my P.C would never stop me watching my own club if i was able.
February 23, 200917 yr I quite frankly dont give a *uck, if the feed is there and Iv`e nowt else furt do I shall watch it. Tonight we have two episodes of Coronation Street, I *uckin hate it, so I shall tune into a live feed and watch Hull V Spurs an an up to the second stream. I pay my licence for sport and not cookery, soaps or some dumb so called celebrity skating on *uckin ice. Ive kicked Skysports ito touch, I get all the games televised on my lap top and games live from Satanta. With an extention lead and a bit of know how my 42 inch telly gives me as good a picture as the ?50 a month sky sports does. *uck em. Well thats only my opinion.
February 23, 200917 yr It's OK posting long articles I think that one is open to question, I for one don't read them.
February 23, 200917 yr Myp2p wins court case!!! 20-02-2009 13:30:00 Myp2p wins court case!!! We finally got our judgment in the legal proceedings. Finally we can give you more information. The main important message is that we won the case. On Thursday the 5th of February we had a court case in the Court of Roermond (Netherlands) against C More Entertainment AB regarding the seven competitions earlier mentioned. C More is, as some of you might know, a Swedish company which, among others, exploits the Canal+ brand in the Scandinavian countries. And we won the case against C More! The Dutch court ruled that C More mistakenly initiated injunction proceedings because the case was to complicated, both factually as well as legally. C More was ordered to repay us all our legal costs. We know it has been a long wait so we would like to thank you for all the support in the past weeks. It was worth it. Make sure you start enjoying all the action again. Go to our forum to show your support or to congratulate us. taken from myp2p who on are involved in the live link stuff we should now never need to discuss this topic on wways again...
