as for the davies loan terms

i think you'd struggle to get many folk to invest in bwfc

lets be honest, its ok him lending it at 10%

theres no guarantee he ever gets it back

sorry i fcuked up the post

my point was intended to be around the hotel thing

its alright knowing the turnover but we don't know if it runs at a loss

tis all

Fair point

And if you take the hotel money out, our % of turnover used for wages must be pretty scary

This was for the season that Sammy Lee had a squad of about 30 isn't it? And Anelka was here for half of it, Diouf, Campo, Stelios... could be a different story now

On the face of it the terms of the loan from Davies are punative, surely there is more to this deal than meets the eye, I would have thought it would be relatively easy for Bolton to borrow a measly 4.5 million from the banks, I wonder if the 4.5million was paid back when we sold Nolan? regarding the hotel the operating profit from memory was around the 1 million mark.

regarding the hotel the operating profit from memory was around the 1 million mark.

I'm not sure I fully understand the thing with the hotel, would we get all the profit, or do De Veres strip a certain percentage out? - is the turnover stated just for the side that we "own" or for the operation as a whole? - anybody know?

In short, I don't know what percentage ownership or influence De Veres have on the place

Thought you could work out if the hotel made a profit by taking the football related activity away from the consolidated total. There will be other bits and pieces in there but the bulk of the difference will be the hotel.

I assumed that all the figures published were income apart from wages etc.

If we needed a lump of cash to buy a player (remember this was in the sammy lee sing loads days) that we would be able to repay when we sold a player (anelka) or when a payment of TV money was due, so the money was really a short term loan 10% per annum aint bad, as you wont borrow for 12 months.

If you borrowed the money under normal terms then you could face hefty repayment fees for paying back early.

There again we may have just been skint and needed it to get us out of shit.

?4.5m sounds like a player fee doesn't it

Taylor?

Although we sold Anelka during that window so shouldn't have been hard up

The 10% rate was accompanied by a ?620k arrangement fee!

Nice work if you can get it.

Let's see: Ed lends his own club ?4.5m and after 12 months makes ?1.07m from the deal. That's a 23.8% interest rate in reality.

Crazy George charge less to scrotes.

Im sure Gartside will bear that in mind when he needs another 4.5million

sadly though, he's probably the only person who would be willing to lend money to the club. Even if I had ?100M to my name, I wouldn't loan the club a single penny, as I know full well it won't ever be coming back. I'm sure that Eddie has accountants who are clever enough to move money around his various businesses without him ever losing money though..................
