HomerJay Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...5869025,00.html coyle seems to want him. given the chance and a bit of support, i reckon(hope) he may suprise a few people.
jazza Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I don't think he is a centre forward though. We should try him wide right
Tyldesley White Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 (edited) I hope he does turn good under Coyle but i don't think he's got it in him, would definitely give him 90 minutes on Saturday and see if he can get a goal and some confidence Edited January 18, 2010 by Tyldesley White
tylswhite Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Him and Klasnic worth a go together from the start imo. I think they could be a good partnership but it would take balls the size of melons to drop SKD full time if it works out.

scoobydoo Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 do we think davies did enough on sunday to warrant his place on wednesday? go 4-3-3 .. gardner ....elmander ...chung up front and see how it works????
tylswhite Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 do we think davies did enough on sunday to warrant his place on wednesday? I thought he was poor by his own standards. I think he tried doing to much instead of keeping it simple.
frank_spencer Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 He has been all season. The Super Kev of last season is undropable and rightly so the Kev we have seen this season doesn't do enough to warant his automatic place in the first 11

I think he tried doing to much instead of keeping it simple. Elmander is NOT a center forward. We should try a 4-3-3 with Davies and klasnic up the middle and Elmander floating about just behind em. He was signed at the wrong time (after Anelka's sale) and people seem to think he's a like for like; and he's not. Sweden play him out wide. Maybe Coyle will try it?? I had a conversation in local about this post match yesterday. The only way we can actually change our style is to drop Davies or move him into midfield. IMO. Edited January 18, 2010 by Ratwhite
snowball Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 do we think davies did enough on sunday to warrant his place on wednesday? We know you think Davies does not warrant his place. You may have a point. Replace him with Elmander though and down we go. There seems to be a lot of straw clutching from those who think they know better but Elmander is a great big white elephant! I can't believe Megson actually saw this guy play before wasting ?10 million.

I saw Elmander out wide for Sweden before he signed for us and he did nothing there either. The football experts told us Sweden were playing him out of position and not to worry he was a centre forward! When Bolton splash out their record fee on a striker it's goals that count. Anyone comes in with a half decent offer I'd snatch their hands off. Scoring in the French league is totally different to doing it in the Prem as better players than Mandy have found out.

Hes got a better goal record recently than SKD but we know SKD has got ability in him whereas Elmander is yet to prove himself. SKD was ill last week so I would give him a rest and Elmander a start on Wednesday and Saturday and if he doesnt show any signs of being a decent option fuck him off and bring back a fresh SKD to batter Burnley.
Guest Frandsen08 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 do we think davies did enough on sunday to warrant his place on wednesday? i think SKD had been poor by his standards all season, maybe its coz he had such a good season last year
Werder barmen Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I don't think he is a centre forward though. We should try him wide right i agree. im pretty sure that's where he was playing for Sweden just before we signed him but i thought he looked bigger than ever when he came on yesterday...to much Christmas turkey?
adambwfc Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 TBH, yes Elmander has got a better goal/minutes this season than Davies, but the combined yardage of his three goals can't be more than 10 yards, he's scored 3 goals most definitely made by others (Lee against West Ham, Cahill against Villa and Klasnic against Wolves) that I coulda tapped in, and he was still rubbish in those games. He'll probably have a longer stint mid-week and then might start in the cup. For me he has to consider these minutes, even if limited, as the minutes that will make or break his career here. However, we can't sell him without getting a replacement because Klasnic can't last ninety minutes.

adambwfc Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Oh, of course, and I'm not complaining he scored, all I'm saying is that Davies would have scored the goals as well. Looking back I didn't make that clear.

Looking back I didn't make that clear. thats the problem. davies is never johnny on the spot. finding space in the box is a difficult thing. elmander can does this i think as he's proved. davies can not imo.
only1swanny Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 wouldnt mind seeing Elmander starting against Sheff... i

Looking back I didn't make that clear. To be fair KD was on the pitch too why wasnt he there tapping them in? You cant take anything away from him becuase they were close in. I would take ten 1 yard tap ins over a 30 yard screamer, distance is irrelevant as long as the ball crosses that line its a goal (apart from if your playing Everton of course).
adambwfc Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 At the time of the goal against West Ham Davies had been on the pitch for 120 minutes, Elmander for 50 and we scored on a counter, I think we can forgive Davies for that. He wasn't playing against Wolves. The goal against Villa was from a freekick iirc, in which Davies was the other side of the box having tried to win the flick-on. Frankly, in all of them the goal was totally made by another player in which Elmander was applying the final touch, none of which I would say required any positional sense to score. Yes, he scored them and I'm taking nothing away from him there, but it didn't take anything much to score them, and I don't think Davies wouldn't have scored them if their roles were reversed. Which was my original point.

adambwfc Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 The problem is I haven't seen much of it from Elmander either, obviously he's been on the pitch far less but I haven't been impressed with him at all apart from about 20 mins at Villa. But yeah you're right, Davies finishing has been lacking at times, and in truth I think this is his last year at the club and think he may well need replacing next season, but unfortunately I don't see his replacement being Elmander. Also, although he hasn't scored many, Davies's goals have been far more crucial. I also think he offers more to the team, especially when we're playing teams with physically weaker/poorer defenders. Also, going back to Homer's point I'd disagree having seen any real positioning sense from Elmander, espeically when compared to Klasnic.
Guest bwfcdan Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 go 4-3-3 .. gardner ....elmander ...chung up front and see how it works???? Ermm no....
