Road Works

Swear to God, 30% or more of the entire drive back to th'East Midlands was coned. Most of the way to the M1, at least half of the M1 down to A500, 80% of the A500 and then a good 20% of the A50 as the icing on the cake.

The only activity on the A500 I could see was three blokes - two smoking while intently watching the third who was dicking about with a mini digger.

It's a good job we won

Talking of roadworks, tried to take a short cut past Barnstormers on tues night as road at side of Reebok was chocker from lights.Got just past Barnstormers and was road was closed near Brommy Arms so had to turn around.

Any ideas how long there up for. Will they be gone for Fulham game ?

Its that time of year again, when the councils use up the rest of there budget before the end of the fiscal year!

They should have no problem this year, filling up all the pot holes, most of which are on Bradford road!

It'll be shut for another month or so yet that mini bridge just past pub is fooked,

Could it be the fallout after the recent weather?

that closure will be gone Monday Dinner time :good: was suppose to be up until end of March but its coming off Monday (at time of posting anyway!)

just out of intrest, cos i deal with this everyday, you say you dove down past Barnstormers, did you not see or take any notice of the repeated signs saying "road ahead closed" which are placed from the lights and all the way down past Watsons until you get to the barier and the "road closed" sign?

Same signs were there after the Arsenal game, but the road wasn't closed then

It was, officialy anyway, been a closure on it physicaly since the 11th, under order from the 4th but the snow put a stop to any work, the barriers/ cones etc kept getting fucked off by people, so sometimes it was open 'til someone could get back to close it again, thats why there is fencing and sand bariers now, which still keep getting moved by someone, someone with a 4x4 I would say as they are even driving over the shit thats piled there and the trench. If it was on until end of March, there would now be crash barier bolted to the road to stop this, but its coming off Monday, so its not worth it now. :good:

Highways Agency has had extra money this year as part of the Government's Fiscal Stimulus for Motorway work. A lot of extra improvement schemes have taken place in 09/10 and will continue through to End Of March.

TBH matey I didn't see any signs to say road was closed only when I got to Brommy arms.Assume someone must have taken them down.

2 cars in front of me and 5 behind so assume we must all be blind <_<

Take it the road is now open now for my shortcut back on to the motorway ?

I also have to deal with this everyday and it was still closed last night, we rang the council a week or so ago and they said the bridge would be shut for at least 6 weeks, it's gas mains work which will go on until the end of March, so avoid

The M6 was covered in holes on the Wigan stretch, it seems the snow has really made a mess of the road network, you can guarantee speed cameras will be loaded up and ready to Tax/fine drivers to pay for the repairs.

they were there alright, six of 'em, saying road ahead closed, and access only to Lynstock ind area etc, but if you didnt see them, will have to put more on next time so thanks for the site audit input, let us know where to send your auditors fee :D

That route is open again now, still temporary lights on though, and someone else has now shut Wingates lane, which is nowt to do with me but you can now get from the Reebok down to the A6 and vice versa. That closure may have to go on again sometime again in the next 6 weeks, but for now its back open. :good:
