Old Bolton Flat Cap

Those old enough to remember the late 70s will remember that thousands of Bolton fans had the blue and white flat cap to the match if you looked along the paddock you would see thousands of them, any how yesterday in the North stand lower one of the older bolton fans had his flat cap on, funny how it gave me warm glow took me back to the 70s.

Spooky as I was thinking about the caps just last week. I think the nostalga over the old football scarves and badges set me of thinking.

I bought a couple, one from a street vendor (some cheap tatty thing) then the club shop did one with a slight peak on 'em. Not sure what happened to mine as I used to keep all my Bolton stuff.

Ive two of those silk scarves from the 70s which we tied around the wrist.

One of my older brothers used to collect them from away matches, i dont think he ever paid for any, just liberate them :D

I've still got "old faithful" - me blue red and white bar scarf from the 70s. Only wash it when we get promotion. One memorable wash was when I was living in Southampton and got back the day after beating Preston, so just checked and it must have been 9th May 1993. A reet mucky combination of ale, piss and christ knows what else washed off it - some cracking times going down the plughole, it was quit emotional really :(

I've got one from the 89 Torquay Final, its a beautiful pint too :drinks:

I bought one of them 70's type silk scarfs at a carboot last year - was in pristine condition too.

70's ? Nostalgia ? Eee, that wur only yesterday.

Now if u wur talkin' about rattles 'n' rosettes ......

:rolleyes2:

I remember one game, can`t think who it was, Opposition fans had gathered in the lever end and we were made to remove our boots before being allowed in.

I have a similar one but with a St George' flag and old BWFC badge.

The old silk flat caps came out in the 75/76 season, i remember having a photo taken with John Byrom in that big hotel next to Huddersfield station before the FA cup game wearing one. I used to were it at work in Eccles, it stopped brass cuttings flying into your hair coming off the lathe. Even managed to get scum fans wearing them at work.
