Newcastle are looking to broker a deal for Bolton's Jlloyd Samuel, skysports.com understands.

 

The 27-year-old has been with Bolton since 2007 after leaving his first club Aston Villa.

 

He has been a first-team regular at The Reebok, playing anywhere across the back four.

Why? I don't see why he's disliked. So he doesn't play fancy football, he's an old fashioned player, takes no shit but gives it, and the football world is a sadder place once these types of players disappear for all this bloody tippy toey malarkey. The back end of this season I really can't see why folk got on his back.

Along with McCann he's seen as part of the low level negative football people associated with Megson/

 

I quite like him myself.

ive not got a problem with robbo, he didnt do any worse than anyone else last season when OC came in he was quite solid. dont get me wrong if a better left back was to come in then i wouldnt grumble but i think he gets unfair criticism. if we are to move forward then yeah robbo might be set for a place on the bench but i'd be happy with him to be a back up left back.

For me it's nothing to do with what "type" of player he is - it's because he's slow and his positioning for a man of his experience is poor at the top level leading to huge exposure between him and the centre halves

 

If we were in the Championship he'd be one of the first on the teamsheet

 

But we're not and IMO he aint good enough

If we want to improve then we have to get better players than Robinson. He's a good player at championship level, a bit like Andy O'brien..

Agreed. How much would a fullback significantly better than Robbo or JLS cost? At least ?5million, left backs are hard to find, it's not the most pressing use of a limited Budget.

think it was JLS that went nose to nose with Megson at half time during a game, never seemed to of got a look in from that point in even when Coyle came in. If JLS goes than we need a replacement as Robinson isnt cut out for Premiership football, no pace and needless bookings picked up. Coyle seems to be tracking this Alonso kid at Madrid.
