Chester

Going back to a ground tomorrow what was pivitol in changing the season for the whites, losing 0-2 at half time, then coming back to draw 2-2 with Reeves and Supa John getting the second, at the time we were near the bottom of the league, but nearly pipped Stoke at the end of the season for the title. Somehow, i cant see history repeating itself with Leigh Genesis being the hosts.sad.gif

It was at the Deva, they played for two seasons at Moss Rd in Mack when they moved out of Sealand Rd. Thanks for the info about the social club.

Isn't it the moss Rose rather than road?

The 2-2 was at Macclesfield, looking at Wiki the Deva didn't open until the following season.

wiki is wrong.... it was at the deva...coz I was there and it was John McGinlays first goal infact... it might have been his first game....!

It was Mc Ginleys first goal in his second game, but thanks for backing me up. It was played at the Deva, and just like today, Leigh were getting turned over for most of the game, and pulled the fucker back in the last minute. 1-1 thumbsup.gif

The 2-2 was at the deva, we did the same the week after at preston.

I'm sure we only played Chester once in the league at Macc, about 91/92 and it was a shit day out.

did we not beat em 5-0 at burnden in the return fixure?..winstanly on the scoresheet?

5 in the last 15 minutes rings a bell

I think we might of played them at Macc twice... because I've been there twice... and I've never seen Macc... if I remember... reeves had a blinder there and scored... and the Tea was excellent... a giant teapot instead of that shite stadia crap every ground in the country was serving....!

Won both seasons down at Moss Rose against Chester 1-0 on the same occasions, just about makes up for that crap mid week league cup tie, after winning 3-0 in the first leg; and no fucker from Bolton bothered to turn up in the second leg, got beat 0-3, and went out on pens in 83.

I remember that game at The Deva Stadium 2-2. Just after a Bolton fan had shouted "Get a yellow shirt on Rioch" we scored the first. It was on the compilation Roadrunner video :)

Oi I was there. I was also at Sealand road when there was a fire behind the goal and also the game when Mark Came broke his leg.

Wasnt Frank Burrows (??) the Chester manager and he said something like 'football is a mans game' after Came had been smashed from behind to break his leg?

I remember Phil Neal getting into a bit of a shitstorm with him over his comments.

Might have been Harry McNally, an old school loon of a manager, hospitalised after an incident got out of hand at the club Christmas party. Drink may have been taken.

Defo the deva - went on the train from sheffield when I was at university.

Also went to Sealand Road and also Moss Rose to watch "Chester away"
