I have had them for years as my hair grows to fast and it's less of my face I need to shave, as long as they are kept tidy then I consider them perfectly acceptable!

I've had sideburns since I could grow them (apart from a few months when I took a load of acid and shaved all my hair off). These days I keep a full beard, so the sideburns are a necessity anyway.
