I was at his debut Denn, I think there was you, me and Ruth, and that was it....still remember all the prisoners shouting from the jail next door, and I seem to remember Neil getting 2 and The King the other

Remember going to Swansea for a league cup tie and all the prisoners were shouting then. We drew 1-1 and I think it was a Whatmore equiliser; stuffed them in the replay at Burnden

Also remember the Friday night game when we beat the scum 3-0 and I think he bagged a brace then as well with Frankie hitting the other. Great night in my local at Daubhill after. :drinks:

hope some others on here had the pleasure of his company at Wembley......what a guy, he was sat at the side of me in his original 1977 number 8 umbro shirt,(most ex players would want to be in some swishy executive club in a fancy suit) his son and grandson both had their faces painted in Wanderers colours...absolute class from one of our all time greats, he is still living in Mansfield and working for the water board, remember seeing him at Cardiff both times, and lots of home games over the years...a Wanderer for life

saw john thomas in greyhound.

He came on loan (for a third time) in 1987 but didn't play so he cannot have played for us in the 4th Division.

BTW Sean Davis played for Fulham in all 4 divisions, there can't be many more who have done it.

Who were we playing when a back pass got stuck in the mud and Whatmore was the first to react and scored.

bristol city on a sunday?

probably not

he scored a stunner against plymouth

he was running towards the lever end and the ball from midfield was a little short and was bouncing behind him

he managed to backheel the ball from behind him over his head and past a couple of defenders towards goal

into teh box, beat a couple more, took his time, a bit like that okocha one in germany, before putting it away

Ian Ashbee for Hull. And he's in an even smaller minority in that he captained them in all four divisions as well
