You could always break out the bed sheets again

i would but they are a bit mucky

trust me, being an ex manager I know the signs when the manager has lost the dressing room

did you manage to win it back?

J has another full keep net again I see.

did you manage to win it back?

No, they have to change in the car park now.

There are always a couple. aren't there?

Every mistake is a sacking offense. If the manager does anything they wouldn't have done, he needs sacking. If the manager achieves more than was expected of him at the start of the season, then he hasn't done it in quite the right way and needs sacking.

Your team are 8th, reached a semi-final and the standard of football has (in general) improved; even if we're not Barcelona just yet ;) . The away form needs to improve next season, but the home form gives us a platform to challenge for European football; why people insist on seeing it as the away form giving us a platform to be relegated from I do not know. Improvement is gradual, Coyle has fixed what he can.....next season he'll hopefully fix a bit more.

In short, cheer the fuck up and enjoy the fact that we were never in danger of relegation and had a cup run.

right, so our away form is a bit cack

W 2 D 5 L 11

is that our worst run in the PL (when we've stayed up?)

more to the point

our home form is

W 10 D 5 L 2

question is, how does that compare to our other seasons?

01/02 - 5 wins, 7 draws.

02/03 - 7 wins, 8 draws.

03/04 - 6 wins, 7 draws.

04/05 - 8 wins, 4 draws.

05/06 - 10 wins, 4 draws.

06/07 - 9 wins, 4 draws.

07/08 - 7 wins, 5 draws.

08/09 - 7 wins, 5 draws.

09/10 - 6 wins, 6 draws.

Hope that helps.

all teams have better home form compared to away

Stirling Albion don't

You don't have to go as far as Stirling. Blackpool have won 5 away but only 4 at home. Drawn 5 at home and 3 away. So 17 home points and 18 away.

According to http://www.premierleague.com/page/Statistics/0,,12306,00.html aways only is as follows:

1st Column Win 2nd Draw 3rd Lose

95/96 3 1 15

97/98 2 5 12

01/02 4 6 9

02/03 3 6 10

03/04 8 3 8

04/05 7 5 7

05/06 4 6 9

06/07 7 3 9

07/08 2 5 12

08/09 4 3 12

09/10 4 3 12

10/11 2 5 11 (Currently in a relegation slot with only Wolves worse and Blackburn equal to us!)

Soooo

this is our best ever season at home in the PL, with 2 games to go, no one seems to have mentioned that fact, cept Casino once or twice

our away form is on par with that of our 2 relegation campaigns and last day of the season escape, though oddly we won 3 in a row on the road in the cup!

the average no. of points away per season is 17

there's still 1 game left so potentially could get 14

I'm not too concerned, I certainly don't think clearouts are the answer

just glad I've only been to 2 aways in the PL this season!

8 away wins in 03/04 though, impressive

more so given in the first 5 of those we lost 4-0 twice (the first two) and 6-2

in conclusion

Coyle needs to change tactics away from home

but what if it's at the detriment to home form?

because he's pretty one track minded when it comes to how he plays

guess we'll see how he evolves as a PL manager next season

for now though, it's a decent first effort at his first full season (with one team) with plenty to build on

and there's still 3 games to go

along with the trip to Wembley, unless we get bummed 5-0 in each of our last games, he can have 8/10 for me

It begs the question though, how come ReebokBear's figures are different to those I've quoted? Where did he get his info? Am I ever going to listen to a word he says?

Probably because my figures are the home results and yours are the away games.

Micky's figure are the correct ones for our away games.

The Bear's figures are our home ones.

Probably because my figures are the home results and yours are the away games.

My mistake. So between us we know the full picture of our Premier League exploits to date (Except the home results in the first two seasons!)

95/6 homes: 5-4-10

97/98 homes: 7-8-4

What we've seen is that our away form has been terrible since 06/07: Our current away form is awful, but it's a continuation of crap.

Our home form has also been terrible since 06/07: But suddenly we are having our best ever Prem season for home form.

So to my mind, the manager earns a great deal of credit. He has completely transformed our home form. The away form needs to improve, which is the task for next season.
