Pub Lunch - Where To Go?

Right, my boss is over from Atlanta today. We're finishing at lunch and I'm taking him up to the Reebok so he can buy random shit from the club shop (I converted him into a Wanderers fan a few years back).

I need to take him somewhere decent for lunch. Preferably somewhere a bit 'ye olde', what with him being American and them having no culture at all.

Is the Blundell still good for lunches, or does anyone know of anywhere else around Horwich way that is alreet?

Ta muchly. :drinks:

The Brinsopp on the A6 is good. Proper beer too.

Yank you say? He'll love the Blundell then. Good idea.

Food's pretty ok actually and easy to get to from the Reebok up Claypool Road. Just don't take him the Brazley Manor route.

Burger king is ideally situated near the reebok

Yep, proper American. You know the type. Huge, aggressive handshake, terrible taste in clothing etc.

Top fella though.

The Black Bull in Limbrick

Bit of a treck for lunch that. Though having said that, less hours in the office then.

If you're going that way though, get to Rivi club. Butty & a pint for less than a fiver. A view to die for and you can teach him a bit of Crown Green too.

You can show him the dogging spots too in case he fancies a go later.

Nah, we're not coming back to the office. I just need to amuse him until approx 5pm when we'll be heading over to Cheshire.

Money is no expense - as I'll be claiming it all back, naturally.

What is "Rivi club" ??

It's ace. Rivi mafia's HQ. It's a Bowling club (come dogging meeting point). :good:

Seriously, if anyone's having a walk up that way in the Summer I'd say bob in for a butty & a pint. Some old friends run it.

Get a crate of Strongbow from Tesco and a McDonalds Happy Meal each. When you're pissed, pin him up against a wall by his throat to complete the full traditional English experience.

Looks good, but am concerned about choice of food, size of portions, etc

As you know, all Americans are greedy bastards.

I didn't mean to take him there really!

Anyhow, Worthy, The Squirrel's flattened now so that's a rubbish landmark to use. :D

Food at the Yew Tree is a bit gash. You could try Lucianos (used to be the Millstone) but that's foreign muck.

Neil's a good bloke (for an Everton fan).

Not been to Yew Tree for a while, but Cherry Tree (same owners pretty much) was awful both times I went. Other people have said it was decent though so maybe it was me.

As you are going to the Reebok you could always try and find a Nandos otherwise the Bonny Lasses (Bromilow Arms) is a typical English pub and the food is OK. Nothing special just typical pub fare.

Nope, I feel the same too. And when my step father complained they had a terrible attitude with him apparently.

Right, offskis in a minute. Ta to everyone for the advice. Think I'm going to go with the Blundell. Only a few mins from the Reebok, the building's probably older than his country and decent views of our great town.

You may've been lucky then. Thoughm, I have heard others say it was ok to be fair.

Anyhow, 4 luxury detached apparently.

Has the Blundell gone back to being a fine eatery then? Didnt it turn into a two meals for a fiver type place?

I don't remember that. Are you not thinking about the Beehive, which I would imagine is truly terrible seeing as it's got a "wacky" warehouse attached.

Anyway, it's the same group as the Malt House over Chorley. Not fine dining, but it's not bad.

No sure it was BLundell im talking about 4 years ago. I went for lunch and it was superb then a few months later it had turned into a brewers fayre kind of pub, now it looks back to being a good food place, can only fond one review that backs up my thoughts
