Thing is we are lazy fuckers who can't be arsed cooking and need a bit of variety. Turkish, Greek, Indian, Chinese, Italian. We really could do with a Vietnamese though so am currently in talks with the nail people to knock up some fodder out back as a side line.

Incidently, La Tasca has fallen through it's arse. The food was nice about 5 years back. Went about a year ago and it was a microwaved mess.

It's not out of this world but far superior to the other one. La Tasca? Not surprising. As you say overpriced microwave meals. Punters deserve better these days.
February 17, 201214 yr Horwich is a cornucopia of eating establishments with lots of competition as evidenced by Viva's offer, closure of Max Max, all you can eat quality at La Salsa, lack of people in the window at Mumbai and I'm sure I saw that Sokrates has been on the market for quite a while.

I presume Mumbai has gone down the pan due to Spice Valley, as well as the economic downturn obviously. Can't say I was ever a fan anyway of that place. Is it the same lad owns it who's always in the bookies? As for Sokrates, I've never been, is it any good? Though if you want Turkish/Mediteranean food Halay is the business.
February 17, 201214 yr Last time I went to Mumbai there was a very unpleasant aroma and haven't been back since. Don't frequent the bookies so wouldn't know. Long time since I went to Sokrates but I enjoyed it. They did 'accidently' charge my c/c twice and I was paying for a party of 10. Got it back 2 days later as I worked in Manc around the corner from their other restaurant and threatened to go in at lunchtime to collect. Halay is strange as you can't see when anyone is in so never know how popular it is.

Though if you want Turkish/Mediteranean food Halay is the business. mumbai is still ace Abdul is back in the UK after his father died last year, but mostly looks after his Rochdale/Middleton restaurant. Good lad. Great food, great people

February 18, 201214 yr Halay is lovely though I believe that the owners are looking to sell. Meal Deal at Mumbai is excellent, we tend to get take away from there. Always go for the specials "North Indian Garlic Chicken" and never let's us down. La Salsa, TBH, I quite liked it - it was nice enough, not brilliant ..but great prawns (we ordered lots) Viva Espania, again, is lovely. bit dissapointed with the meatballs though. Luciano's at The Millstone - yum yum when I went Yew Tree, has always been great, but have heard some bad reports filtering though Sokrates, not been in years, it was nice, but the portions were quite small Like Leo's.... but always roasting hot Mourning the loss of Max Max, the owners have retired, and I'm hoping someone picks it up Not too keen on Spice Valley, but I know lots of people rave about it So lucky to live within a 10 minutes stagger of the majority of these places...
