September 12, 201213 yr Author I looked at Valbchek for a long long time (too long, probably) as a possibilty for tday, but I couldn't dispel the nagging doubts in my mind that this 5f might prove too sharp. We'll soon see, though!
September 12, 201213 yr Author I have, however, just taken 16/1 E/W on Porcini in the 6.15 Kempton. Raul Da Silva has 4 wins and 5 places from 17 rides on McBrides horses this season.
September 12, 201213 yr Author This is where I'm up to so far: 3.05 Doncaster: Sole Power (9/4 BOG) won at 5/2 3.15 Uttoxeter: Carleton Place (11/4 BOG) unplaced 4.10 Doncaster: Swedish Sailor (3/1 BOG) last of 5! 4.30 Carlisle: Anton Chigurh (4/1 BOG) won at 13/8: thankfully BOG was in play! plus a small saver on Oxford Charley (9/1 BOG) 3rd and no E/W payout, because of a non-runner. 6.15 Kempton: Porcini (16/1 E/W BOG) 3rd at 11/1 8.15 Kempton: Beat The Bell (9/2 BOG) unplaced Edited September 12, 201213 yr by Traf
September 12, 201213 yr As less than occasional better, I've had an alright day thanks to this thread. Sole Power winner, Jullundar and Porcini E/W placed. Swedish Sailor let me down. Still up a couple of pounds.

September 12, 201213 yr Just Porcini and SOTD for me today, good job Matt and yourself are about! Not a great deal to shout about upon a cursory glance of tomorrow's cards, but let's go for Lupe D'Oro for a podium spot in the 5.15 at Epsom, a race I think Abrieta, way down in the weights, will win. My concern for Lupe D'Oro is a lack of experience on the difficult Epson track and I'm afraid my knowledge doesn't stretch to whether good form at the likes of Sandown, Yarmouth and York will be much preparation. May even try the exacta with Ring For Baileys. Edited September 12, 201213 yr by Maggie Tate
September 12, 201213 yr Author Just Porcini and SOTD for me today, good job Matt and yourself are about! Cheers, mate. Matts going on paternity leave quite soon, so I'm going to be on my own for a while! PS did you back the SotD discard too?
September 12, 201213 yr Author PPS Catterick and Lingfield ( turf) are the courses most similar to Epsom.

Lupe Doro is one of those horses that always seems to find one other horse just too good on the day.16 races, 7 x 2nd place finishes and 4 x 3rd places, but no wins! Always has E/W chances, but was very poor LTO at Dieppe. Aubretia was 3rd behind the SotD horse a fortnight ago and looks set to do better here, but I think I prefer Pettochside at the moment.
September 12, 201213 yr Author Meanwhile, I've just taken some of the 4/1 BOG on offer for Daliance in the 9.20 Wolverhampton.
September 13, 201213 yr Author Looks like it might be a busy day today! I'm on these so far: 1.50 Doncaster: Valencha (18/1 E/W BOG) 3rd 2.10 Chepstow: Heading North (8/11 BOG) won at 10/11 7.50 Wolverhampton: Alnoomaas (5/2 BOG) won 9.20 Wolverhampton: Daliance (4/1 BOG) won Edited September 13, 201213 yr by Traf

Loads of tipsters were suggesting The Gold Cheongsam this morning: a good call in the end, but tipsters are generally scum.
September 13, 201213 yr Luke Harvey giving it the big un about amadeus wolf tone before the race. Think its the first time ive ever heard him tip a winner him and richard pitman are a right pair.
September 13, 201213 yr Author 4.15 Epsom: Paphos (5/1 BOG) A shocker there, but thankfully our SotD horse won it!

September 13, 201213 yr Author Don't give up, mate. I think you actually read the races quite well and you're certainly no mug punter. Racing is a bit like puzzle solving and I reckon the more you practice, the better you become. I apologise if what I've just said sounds wanky and patronising: it wasn't intended that way. I know what I'm trying to say, but not sure how to word it, but basically even though your horses aren't winning this week: the logic you've applied to get to a selection has been right. It's like our SotD stuff, the methodology is sound, but they don't always win.
September 13, 201213 yr No no, not one bit! It's is the problem solving I enjoy, if I do get rich doing this it will be by freak accident. That is not the object of the exercise. I do find it easier to dismiss horses than to back them so I suppose when I get a few wrong I question my albeit immature methods. And aside from anything else I haven't got time or the inclination to look at 20 odd races a day, so naturally if I happen upon a race where a horse is 16/1 with form figures of something like 324323, my reaction is to investigate further. A separate factor for someone as inexperienced as me is that I'm not necessarily in the habit of investigating all the angles from which to view a race. Things that tend to zero me in onto a horse are C&D record, eyecatching performances in less favourable conditions than in the race I'm looking at, ie weights, ground, and lastly general trainer form. I'm not yet at the stage of looking in any depth of the horse's competition - for instance the Aubrieta I thought would win today, I was not at all aware it had been soundly beaten recently by today's SOTD. It's as if by this process of learning I'm trying to develop a mental flow chart or check sheet. Onwards and upwards!
September 13, 201213 yr You can add another to those beers your owed Traf. Betting account is about five times a healthy as it was yesterday morning!
September 13, 201213 yr I really need to give up, my account was looking healthy at 3pm but then greed and stupidity of betting on nearly every race means that there would only be one winner......mr bookmaker
