whats the fucks happened to our nice meals out?!

 

went for tea tonight with our peg,our pegs mum and dad ...and our 16 month old son.

 

normally a lovely night where me and the father in law lock horns in lager drinking and mixed grill eating and silently acknowledge eachother meat sweats ,whilst the women slag the rest of the family off,then we have the charade over who is paying the bill,when we all know in this little game of wills that the in laws will pay....infact,the card i 'intend' to pay with everytime is infact a morrisons miles card!...but anyhow...is always a pleasant evening....

 

tonight however,i feel like ive just been witness to an armed robbery.....ketih fucking moon would of been proud of the wreck we have just left that resteraunt in....

 

ice cream on the table,floor,high-chair,walls,ceiling,waiters face,my face,the mother-in laws face,and in my father in-laws eyes.

 

a spilled pint,a spilled coke,and more peas on the floor than a fucking frozen pea shop!

 

disgruntled couples and families behind us are out to enjoy a nice spring evening with a bottle of vino,now tarnished by our lad screaming 'hiya'...his one and only word,at the top of his voice whilst throwing chips on the floor...they smile,but i just know they are thinking 'i wish they would fuck off'!

 

then the tykes restless and its endless back breaking walks to keep him entertained and making waiting on staff come to a standstill whilst little lord fauntleroy parts the waves!

 

then i get home 9 miles away and realise we have left his bear,....ah yes,the dam bastard shagwanking bear...off i go to drive across town to retrive the filthy rag with a bears head on it.....

 

good times....

It seems to me that so often it's the kids that rule over their parents. Parents (and yes, I am generalising a hell of a lot here) seem to be too bothered about not wanting to upset their children, rather than making sure the children know their place in the heirarchy.

 

Not sure if I'd rather have been a kid when I was one, or if I'd rather be one now. I had a lot less then kids nowadays have, but I'm pretty certain I appreciated what I had a lot more.

 

Without wanting to sound like an old, miserable fucker, when I was a kid McDonalds (or anywhere like that) was a birthday treat. A takeaway was a similar such treat. My mum cooked food. A portable telly in my room, a CD player/tape deck, ZX Spectrum, etc wasn't a right, that was Christmas presents over three years.

 

Kids just get so much of what they want, when they want it nowadays. I've spoken with breeders about this plenty of times. They usually agree, but the way they see it is all the other kids have got these things so it's not fair that their kids should be the ones who have to be without.

 

30/40 years of increasing affluence plus peer pressure and parents who take the easy option. Shit I HAVE turned into my dad!!

I'm with Darren on this.

I find my friends who breed, on the whole do what is the easy option and this ends with the child being in control of what happens in the household.

 

Do parents still pull their kids pants down and slap their bare arses in public?

 

From memory, that stopped me from being a little cunt in Gateway once ... in an instant.

Aye, I realise you've never done it before.

I was never hit, my punishment was my dad telling me how I'd let him down. That was worse.

I really shake my head when I hear what some kids get away with.

You see them hanging round take always on school nights. Don't even get me in that.

There really is such a high number of feral kids these days.

I don't think kids should be afraid of their parents but it wouldn't do any harm to respect their parents. If they don't do that then how do we expect them to respect anyone else in society.

I watched German parents smack their kids, and shout at them for the smallest of thing, while on the same holiday, in the same hotel, English parents laugh, or make comments to others about, "Dont tell my kid off', which makes the English kid think he/she has won. Putting a wedge between the parents, which then turnes into England V Germany.....with Dave from Barnsley singing 'We won the war" later on at night, after a full bottle of all inc Vodka !

 

Also, its all easier said than done, and the ones that don't have kids, are always the ones that would do its so much better than us lot !

Taking the kids out for a meal is not in any way enjoyable, its a chore.

 

My kids are generally well behaved but its always at the back of my mind that they could start (especially the youngest two) at any time over anything.

as much as i want kids at some point, some of the stories sound like hell!

Trouble is, by everyone falling into these same traps it only make the problem worse as the next parent who comes along has to do the same.

We took our kids abroad on holiday from a very early age where eating out is the norm, they behaved because it was natural to, there has been occasions where a stern NO had to be used but all in all they grew up to appreciate what we gave them, my eldest has recently had her first child and I hope he gets a similar upbringing - learned behaviour.

What you will care about is the smile on your childs face, and hearing them giggle, or tell you they love you, have fun, do well in school, make you proud, and give you a special feeling inside, that you never knew could ever exist.

 

And obviously in true non parenting style on WW, the above means no discipline, and kids running the house!!!

As I said, we can see objectively when basics are not being followed. We were children once you know and have some memories of our upbringing & are able to look back at some of the good and bad things our parents did.
