  • Nowt as exciting as any of this. Just, boring, everyday, unhappy breakdown of a marriage that goes on for a long time before the final nail of ending it.   In this case it was the usual of I fell in

sky+ :good:

If Paul Weller came along with the Jam would it make the impact now as it did then?

Seen him twice at the winter gardens...superb.

And Eavsey, probably not,but I suppose you could say that about most bands/scenes.

I was at both of those. Brilliant venue, rammed full of mod types. Mani came on stage at one of them.

I've always been tempted by his solo gigs? What can you expect from em? I've seen set lists missing a lot of the big hits. Then I've seen sat on his own doing acoustic classics knocking the socks ofd everyone. ( especially for a band (jam) relying on a bassist)

Fair comment. Right time right place.

Must have seen him 18/20 times now including a few at Winter Gardens. Never saw The Jam though, would pay top money for that even though it will never ever hasppen....

He did you're right he did...

Didnt Steve Craddock play with him aswell at one of em?

I was thinking Noel Gallagher, but you might be right. I'm going to have to google it now.

I'm sure I'm going to get slated now but I like the Style Council stuff. More suited to my ears.

Tell you what. Avoiding the top off sun tanned videos, style council at the right time of day is fecking spot on. Blood sports gives that entertainment a run for its money in acoustic guitar merit

Shit take it back. Nb likes it.

Saw him with The Jam in 1978 at Blackburn King Georges, he was young and angry and the gig was sweaty - i've still got the ticket somewhere....£2 entry + support.

:D

I had ever changing moods on a tape I did myself with holiday straight after it. Mixed it mesen off the top 40! :D

I still do the intro at the same time in my head.

What.. Here's ever changing moods at # 26 presented by 'not sir anymore' saville

The Style Council were a favourite of the teen me. Still love them - You're The Best Thing is really special to me. Long Hot Summer, Shout To The Top, Promised Land, Walls Come Tumbling Down - all good.

I can understand a lot of Jam fans being snobby about it, but I loved the fact that he could make something so different.

Craddock has played with him for years.

The best I saw was Days of Speed tour. Just him and an acoustic guiter sat on stool playing tune after tune. Top gig

See that, with copious amounts of pints sounds amazing. In seats where you could if you wanted get up and tell him he's a cockney twat and lamp him you're that close, but you don't.

Few beers, nothing to heavy wanted to savour every moment watching a genius at work. It was standing, King Georges hall Blackburn, great venue.

Commentary ala totp2 on this.

Craddock playing for ocean colour scene with Weller on piana at same time.

All great songs. But when you're a youngster the early stuff just hit the spot..........."All around the world i've been lookin' for yoooooo"

Fuck i wish it was 1978 again :D
