  • Nowt as exciting as any of this. Just, boring, everyday, unhappy breakdown of a marriage that goes on for a long time before the final nail of ending it.   In this case it was the usual of I fell in

I know how much of a legend he is, but I just dont 'get' Paul Weller.

Tried and tried to get into his stuff, but it just feels flat, and boring.

Now The Jam, I know are mega.

Yeah I like the jam, but I can't completely buy into it any more. Too cockney, which gets my back up instantly.

Wild Wood

Stanley Road

Heavy Soul

All good solo albums for me at the time when that sort of music was really coming back

All opinions accepted. For me, a legend. Preferred The Jam to his solo stuff mind but he has released some great tunes on his own.

You stick to Pussy Riot, Crawley. You could never understand.

Have your heard their caterwauling? They want locking up ;)

Well it's exactly 30 years ago since The Jam had their last no 1 Beat Surrender. Also the same month they went on their farewell tour, there were a few lumps in the throat when they sang So Sad About Us.

The Jam disbanded at the right time imo - before it got stale.

Personally i prefer their stuff from 1977 - 1981.

Never really liked The Style council, although i do like some of PW's solo stuff.

The Gift has just been rereleased and includes one of their last gigs from December 82 - really really good

totally off topic but i went to liverpool echo last night to watch Madness

before you all start,my daughter got the tickets for father's day.........i've spent months trying to get out of it,but actually put on a brave face, went there and had a cracking time. my mum had told my daughter i loved Madness......but that was 30 years ago.

bloody hell,i remembered every word of every song and did some serious stomping complete with Fez on. All old skool faces there, top present in the end

That's nothing to be ashamed of I'd love to see them. My sis was supposed to be seeing them at Haydock Races earlier this year and I was jealous but they had to cancel. Some of their stuff still sounds as fresh today as when they wrote it.

I was there to MW great night.... Like you say some old hooligans there, saw a few Chelsea who said they were stopping over then going upto Sunderland today.

It's just gone noon half past monsoon....

the night boat to cairo at the end was absolutely superb. i was sweating like jimmy saville in stoke mandeville. i'm more ashamed to say we met up with some old skool liverpool but they're sound as a pound, had a great laugh

i shouldn't of been ashamed of it to be honest. it was so sweet of my daughter thinking of a father's day present like that. as she's getting older and me and her mother Atilla the Mum being divorced,i don't get to spend as much time as i like with my daughter, but last night was pure quality time. Took me back to my youth and a totally different era. I got quite emotional in the end. A certain poster on here received a txt off me complete with Fez,he dies if it's posted

Nipped in the Revolution after the gig pint of cider & vodka & red bull £9.65!!!

I like Liverpool for a night out & never had a problem with scousers. Had a few good nights out with them after the games with PG (Franks brother)

is it an annual event with Madness or just a one-off ? if they do another next year,i'll be straight on the net for tickets. Did you see the lads with the desert shorts and camel hats, they were class. my daughter couldn't believe how many old skool were there. Whereabouts were you,in the seats or standing ?

Miami don't be be an embarrassment( see what I did there) they are a great band. Was impressed with the new stuff too especially Death of a rude boy.

i suppose being an embarrassment in front of my daughter shows it must be love

Didn't see them but saw plenty of characters :-) we were standing, prob about half way slightly to the right but took a young lad(mid20's) down to the front for the last few songs, he is still buzzing :-)

Think they tour every year or every other year... I will def be on it next time too....

i was on the left hand side, around 3/4 of the way down. i'll be on it next time round. only just remembered the tom jones classic in between !!!

Haha forgot all about that!!!! Who the fuck was he? Just went to book The Specials at the Apollo but standing is sold out. If you can watch them too another fantastic trip down memory lane...

was he not a ''new'' member of the band, pretty sure he was called chris

with regards to Madness.....they're doing a weekender next November at Butlins Minehead.

if it's anything like last night's reunion of more old faces than Shipman's victims, then it will be a hoot.

pro plus and viagra can be ordered in advance

MW, best gig I have been to in the last ten years was Madness. 30,000 people bouncing (mostly in fez's including me  ) around at Claremont Showgrounds.

They were brilliant. We left the place absolutely shagged. Missus is a big fan, me too. A British institution.

Aye,but do your get Happy Shoppers brown sauce ?

i was talking to my mate's parents the other day. Their son NS is an engineer originally from Morris Green and now living in Perth. they said when they said visited,N took his dad for a round of golf and halfway through the round a kangaroo bobbed past them on the green. Is that likely to happen down your way,or is N's dad a wind up merchant ?

When are you back in god's country pal ?
