No, he made his school grant maintained - a Conservative initiative to put the management of school back in the hands of the actual heads and SMT; taking away the dead head of local authority control - and a bloody good idea it was too. GTS achieve its best results in years and increased the intake considerably. Which is why the Labour party co-oped it and called them Academies.

 

My Mother? No, and not a Union member.

 

Aunty, Uncle, Sister, Cousins - all no; in fact I think you'll find most good teachers are quite pragmatic; they don't really care who is in power as long as they are supported to carry out their job (and its a fucking hard one, and those who are spouting this shite have probably not stepped foot inside a school since they left or were kicked out at 16) Gove is a misguided prick whatever bloody party he's from; even the usually right wing leaning NAHT boo'ed him.
