Road Running Trainers

just started road running and have signed up to do my 1st 10k in sept i needa decent pair of trainers for road running can anybody point me in the right direction.

 

got a budget of about £50.

also got a pair of karrimor for off road running, do a decent job ofr off road

 

also just signed myself up we love mcr 10k on 13th july. this will be my forst 10k;

Im tempted to sign up for that as im doing Wigan. .

 

Worked up to 6.5k already and joining the burnden road runners soon

Read a cracking book about running recently called Born To Run, highly recommend if you like running

 

Mainly bout this Mexican tribe who run for fun everywhere in nowt but basically homemade sandals

 

Gets a race against some of America's best ultra runners arranged

 

Basically, gives loads of insight and pretty much all running injuries come from wearing running shoes and not running right

 

You're meant to run like you do barefooted on the ball, not through your heels

 

Just spent wedge on new trainers, now am going to try and adapt my technique...

Watched a load of YouTube tutorials abput this yesterday before my run and adjusted my gait accordingly. .

 

 

Good god my calves hurt.

 

But I wasn't too far off. When you watch someone heel striking in slow motion its quite worrying how much damage it can do. The jolt stops the momentum too.

aye, had a go myself

 

found running in a swimming pool helped my figure out how my feet should be landing

 

be tough to change it after all this time, but def the way forward - lean into it, back straight and small fast paces... (something like that)

  • Are forced to take shorter, lighter strides
  • Keep your feet underneath you, rather than way out in front
  • Strike the ground with your midfoot, rather than your heel
  • Spend more time in the air and less time “braking” on the ground

All these factors add up to two big things: Greater efficiency, and dramatically reduced risk of injury.

I found mine wasn't to bad to rectify,

 

 

running on the spot, then slowly start moving forward, and keeping the same movement..

Done a bit of running in my time, got the medals and knackered knees to prove it. Don't try to change your running style it will only result in injuries, just try to run more efficiently by reducing head and arm movement. Have a look at the way your running shoes wear this will tell you if you have a good running style or if you are over or under pronating, both can be rectified with orthotic supports in the shoe.
