Henry_VIII Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Old Balance? Very good. I feel like it after a long run nowadays. The only "new" thing is a change of colour or slightly different NB logo( yep it's smaller) or something, the support of the shoe is still the same. Quote
Henry_VIII Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 last years style and size 3 bet theyre pink Tosser. 9.5 D and black and silver. Quote
Traf Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Size 9.5 feet? They must look like flippers on you. Quote

Henry_VIII Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Size 9.5 feet? They must look like flippers on you. Iam an 8/8.5 normally, 9 in adidas for some reason. When you start to hit 10/15 miles your feet swell so you need extra room so your toenails don't go black & fall off which you can imagine stings a bit..... Anyway you know what they say about men with big feet..... They wear big shoes.... Quote
onefinfrandsen Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 The last 3 pairs i have purchased have been new balance, never let me down. Quote
fester58 Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 ended up paying £85 as my gaits all over the place i need support all over Quote

bgoefc Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) I should learn to read the full thread before posting! I wear Brooks Glycerin now as I use orthotics with my knackered arthritic knee had a pair of new balance 1260 which were good, but i used to buy their motion control shoes before i started to use my orthotics. smeghead83 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 You can get a decent pair of asics runners for 40-60 quid in sports direct normally. Good lightweight trainers that often get good reviews. Quote
madthatter Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Do it barefoot. Apparently it's the best way to do it, and it's easier to get dogshit off your feet than out of the grooves in trainers. I have tried this myself, when in sunnier climes and on beaches, and would agree - my back feels loads better However, I saw a fella near Crosby, in November, running barefoot and topless in the rain . . . that's surely the act of a mentally challenged or severely attention seeking individual though . . . nice tip re. the dogshit! madthatter Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 ended up paying £85 as my gaits all over the place i need support all over I can't say i've ever bought into this gait analysis. I'm sure there's sound science behind it but I always tend to pick the cheapest and lightest pair I can find. I'm probably just a tight arse but have always thought that once you imprint the insole after a few runs they 'mould' to your gait anyhoo Quote

madthatter Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Fair play, hope it helps! It's my back that gets me. Been stop start for last year or so after my hip surgery (old giffer:) Just moved to Bristol which I think must be the hilliest place in the world. First run for a while yesterday nearly killed me . . . Good luck with the 10k. Someone at works trying to talk me into a mini triathlon - was pretty gam until I heard a wet suit was required! Quote
Henry_VIII Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Madhatter, iam no Doctor but I would wager 50 English pence that youre sore back and not having your gait checked are linked. Seriously I would get it checked, its always free so you've nothing to lose. Everyones feet are different and the majority of injuries/aches/niggles can be avoided. Fester, whatever you do take the next piece of advice, promise you wont regret it. Get yourself some twin socks, again Tobutts is the man, they are two pairs of socks sowed together and I guarantee you will not get a blister. Quote

I threw my back out as I was compensating from bi-lateral knee movement, the running shoes I now have (puma complete itana), do the same job as orthopaedic inserts and helped ALOT. Quote
Carlos Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I've had 3 months out with fucked calves due to shit trainers. Quote
madthatter Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Hmmm . . . i'm never one to spurn a good bit of advice so may have it checked out. I presume this is done at a sports store? My back is due to dried discs (lower 2) which basically causes the spurs at the base of my spine to rub, causing nerve type/achy pain. I find that if i keep my core pretty stable and strong, and stretch out properly, running generally helps with the symptoms. Post op NHS physio hasn't helped much though . . . Cheers fellas! If it helps, 50p's on it's way Henry! Quote
Henry_VIII Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Get to a specialist running shop in your area MH, Google or look on Runners world forums for a recommended one, runners like to share experiences so good things always get passed on. Nothing to lose mate. Good luck Quote
