February 6, 201412 yr Went to the game last night which we lost 4-0. Should have gone ahead early on and had a few good chances in the first half (missed 2 one on ones). 2-0 down by half time. Second half, we were totally inept giving sloppy balls away and generally spending most of the half chasing shadows. City hardly broke sweat and scored another couple. From our perspective, we had no-one prepared to roll up their sleaves and put a shift in and the whole thing smacked of the attitude the first team has when we go behind. There was no-one for me, in my opinion, that was / is capable of stepping up even though, we don't appear to have the greatest first team squad. What typified the whole experience was that even at 4-0 up, on a terrible pitch and driving wind and rain, Patrick Viera was stood on the touch line, instructing his players, encouraging and directing. The vibe from all their players was positive and they were constantly talking and driving each other on. From us ?? NOTHING. Nothing from the bench, nothing from the players. It spoke a thousand words...............................

It spoke a thousand words............................... The whole club seems to be lacking direction and impetus, we need a fucking big shake up akin to when Bruce Rioch came in, either Freedman pulls the finger out of his arse or fucks off asap. I thought LL was a good foil for Freedman, it looks to me like he is here just for the pay day hes the invisble man and never says anything. Time is running out for them both. Its no wonder fans are dropping like flies either, nothing from ED nothing from Gartside fuck all for the fans to get behind or believe in, in short fucking pathetic. February 6, 201412 yr I read some where City have 150+ players at each level, they can recruit whoever they want. We can't. We aren't competing with City, who are the richest club in the world at this time. We don't need to produce players who can play at the very top level, and no one is expecting us to. Give your head a wobble.
February 6, 201412 yr City signed a 15 year old from Tenerife in 2010 when I worked there for a bit for £450k. Not seen him break through, we can't afford to just write off money like that. That's just one example of many, many more. They signed players from all over Europe for around that figure.
February 6, 201412 yr Author I read some where City have 150+ players at each level, they can recruit whoever they want. We can't. We aren't competing with City, who are the richest club in the world at this time. We don't need to produce players who can play at the very top level, and no one is expecting us to. Give your head a wobble. Not saying we need to compete with City, BUT as a team we matched them in the first half. It was the alarming drop off in the second half that was the big concern. No matter who you play, there is no excuse for drive, determination, desire and above all effort !!
February 6, 201412 yr We don't need to produce players who can play at the very top level, and no one is expecting us to. Bollocks I expect us to produce a player/players to the highest level possible no matter what league we are in
February 6, 201412 yr As soon as we have a player with any promise these twats nick them. They end up at city or Munich. It's wrong. They stockpile talent. I despise both clubs.
February 6, 201412 yr Bollocks I expect us to produce a player/players to the highest level possible no matter what league we are in Hear hear. Otherwise it's just spunking more money away. I'd be interested to know what the Academy cost to run each year for the last 3 years. At this rate, by the time a player breaks through & establish themselves in the first team, they'll be the equivalent of a £4-£10M player being bought. (guessing) Before anybody says "we can't attract...blah, blah, etc." Bollocks, tell that to Crewe over the years.
February 6, 201412 yr Exactly who have Crewe produced? Since David Platt, Dean Ashton? Look at Southampton, Bale, Walcott, Oxlaid, Llanana...
February 6, 201412 yr Not saying we need to compete with City, BUT as a team we matched them in the first half. It was the alarming drop off in the second half that was the big concern. No matter who you play, there is no excuse for drive, determination, desire and above all effort !! so what happened in the second half was all down to effort not the fact we'd been chasing em around for an hour? i dunno, just asking and 'team 4-0 up all wanting the ball' shocker

Give your head a wobble. No one expects us to compete with City but we should strive to be our very best, it seemed last nigh there was no leadership from the management team especially compared with the direction and guidance that Viera was giving, lets just accept 3rd best shall we? Accepting abject failure is why we are in the shit were in.
February 6, 201412 yr Bollocks I expect us to produce a player/players to the highest level possible no matter what league we are in he said 'need' we need players good enough to improve our first team or players with a value we can sell on and you and me and others can expect us to produce players for the prem but we've not done it more than a few times in my lifetime so dunno why we do expect it
February 6, 201412 yr Author so what happened in the second half was all down to effort not the fact we'd been chasing em around for an hour? i dunno, just asking and 'team 4-0 up all wanting the ball' shocker I know what you are saying - the game is lost, but surely these lads should be thinking from a selfish point of view, that if they play well as an individual, they might get a chance with the first team (given the current plight) We did make 3 subs, so we had fresh legs. When we did have the ball the lack of movement and the sloppy way we gave the ball away is surely the basics of what any fottballer, at any level should do. (and they are getting paid for it !!)
February 6, 201412 yr just for balance in the last 8 games we've beaten stoke, liverpool, leicester and villa how shit must they all be
February 6, 201412 yr With the conditions favouring the home side at the turnaround, it was no surprise that they were able to further improve the scoreline. http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Match-reports/2014/February/City-EDS-v-Bolton-Wanderers-u21s-Barclays-u21-Premier-League-match-report-5-February-2014

February 6, 201412 yr just for balance in the last 8 games we've beaten stoke, liverpool, leicester and villa how shit must they all be 3rd best.
February 6, 201412 yr yeah, me too think the point he was making is that where we are at, we don't need the kids to be world beaters and thats good as i can't see us turning any out anytime soon i did mean to post this a few days ago 18s won last two games21s beat villa last out7s beat stoke 17-0 and 19-1 in two games (split squad) tother day
February 6, 201412 yr I take it Vela was crap last night? He needs to go out on loan for the rest of the season, play some games in league 1
February 6, 201412 yr and you and me and others can expect us to produce players for the prem but we've not done it more than a few times in my lifetime so dunno why we do expect it MONEY. BUSINESS. That's why I expect it. Like it, or not, none of us can deny Football is about money. If the Academy/developement squad had its own seperate P&L (maybe it has) I'd say it's losing money hand over fist. It's a business. If it's a financial drain, you cut it off or you get it working properly. If Dougie says these guys aren't ready for stepping up, after he & his team have been here for 16 months, he should be managing that better. His team needs pushing to produce better, or get rid & replace.
